Nic
My 2year old female Shar Pei/American Bulldog cross suddenly started uncontrollably wobbling her head from side to side this morning and then tonight had another episode, she is alert, answering to her name, walking around and it only lasted about 5 minutes. I was really worried it was some sort of seizure so looked it up on the net and found it's called an idiopathic head tremor and can be common in bully type dogs and some other breeds. There doesn't seem to be any explanation why it happens and is said to be nothing to worry about but best to get it checked out by a vet to make sure. I've read that it can also be triggered by hormonal changes, she is due to come into season shortly so that may explain the timing. Explained here https://pethelpful.com/dogs/Head-bobbing-in-dogs Just wondering if any other members have dogs that have similar head tremors and what your experience is of it? Or if there are any vets on here that know the condition? It's stopped now and she seems relaxed and unaffected, she's now cuddled up on the sofa with her Lab buddies. tintinmt
Best advice is to talk to a vet or vet nurse. You will probably just end up worried reading the net. Give your vet a phone call or - If you have pet health insurance - do they have an advice line?
redtwinturbo
Nic - Just ran this past my partner who is a vet. A problem can only be labeled idiopathic once all other causes have been ruled out (it basically means unexplainable) - it's not something that can be diagnosed by just looking at it. Strongly recommend getting her checked over by a vet :]

Chris Wilson
My wife is always shaking her head from side to side, she makes tutting noises at the same time. If I immediately stop what I am doing it sometimes causes it to cease. Other times mowing the lawn or starting other chores causes her to cease this. Seriously though, I hope you can find a cause if it continues and it's nothing serious. It does sound potentially expensive though!
