Noz
My ECU of choice is AEM Infinity. Basic outlay; Boost control / solenoid Wideband to ECU Map sensor So, what other inputs should I consider. As these were outside my current quote. Other recommendations include; Fuel Pressure Fuel Mix (Ethanol) Oil Pressure Oil Temperature Air Intake Water Temp Exhaust Gas Temp What other sensors are recommended for someone wanting the very best from their technology? Aiming for 600hp, but will want nitrous at some point. Edited August 15, 2016 by Noz (see edit history)
Ric
Oil Temp? Fuel Mix sensor (Ethanol)?
Mike2JZ
Oil Temp, Water Temp, Exhaust Gas Temperature (per cylinder if really want to go overboard) If I had an ECU of that caliber I would want all these temperature sensors for logging and alert setups. Style
Things like knock sensor and air intake temp sensors can be upgraded to aftermarket if you wish
SupraP-Z
This will be interesting to know as im going for the same ECU. I've been advised sensors are not necessary although these would be the main ones to go for if i did: Oil pressure, fuel pressure and wideband sensors
Noz
I was thinking Knock Sensor too. I'll update the list! I'd like ethanol, a better option to nitrous. Personally I'd agree with you and say those two things are major benefits from monitoring with a new ECU like this. I'd rather pay an extra couple of hundred pounds for sensors overboard, because I can't afford all these upgrades then have my engine fail. If the ECU can monitor it, then I want to include it to save money in the long run. Edited August 15, 2016 by Noz (see edit history)
Frank Bullitt
What has your mapper suggested? I have fitted; • Knock Sensor • Boost Control Solenoid • 3 Bar Map Sensor • Inconel EGT Probe • Lambda Cable With NTK Sensor • Air Temperature Sensor (VVT-i) • Oil Pressure Sensor • Fuel Pressure Sensor
Chris Wilson
You don't have a fuel pressure sensor, not enough inputs. I have been battling the ABS, a sensor was dead, or dying, I finally found the good used ones I have and it's fitted now. This loom adaptor is anything but plug n play by the way....! Romain will have to take some cables and pins out to add the new ones, as i don't know what inputs he wants to use for what.
Noz
You mean if I stack up the inputs I won't be able to use fuel pressure? Yeah I've the custom loom resolved, it was included in my quote. Frank, I didn't really get any recommendations for what sensors. However, if my pump fails and he says I shouldn't usually need one, he wouldn't be liable for my engine and it would still lye with me to pay for the repair. I agree 100%, and its something thats going to be incorporated on my build once i get something better than the w58 on there. Id rather have that peace of mind knowing that everything is being monitored and add some additional sensors on there. Which Version did you go for on the infinity? Yeah I've the custom loom resolved, it was included in my quote. Sorry, that was aimed at Frank Bullit! He doesn't have enough inputs with the Tiptronic and the sequential turbos to run a fuel pressure sensor, but the mixture will go weak and they can probably map it to kill the engine on the O2 sensor output figures instead.
