lockys96
Someone at work has said and keeps telling me that Supra engines are SOFT? This comming from someone who drives a R5 turbo, which is currently off the road, because of a crash, Tell me he is talking complete bollox, i havent yet got my car, but has 110,000kms or 68,000 miles on the clock, has turbo timer, exhaust, filter, FMIC, I cant see what he is going on about, its not running a boost controller, so id thought the engine would have not been pushed 100% for obvious reasons being its mildly tunned, NO MAJOR MODS, yes it would have been driven hard in japan. Thats the nature of a sports car. What ure think. Si
hadyn
I think he hasnt got a clue. He's confusing the Supra engine with the Scooby engine thats got a reputation for having CHOCOLATE pistons. That is pure tosh coming from a R5 owner with its lethal electric failures and tendency for the engine to self-destruct every week

Whitesupraboy2
That sounds like what i wanted to hear, hey, whitesupraboy: you have done like 104,000 miles since you imported your car? now thats a lot, I wish i had had it that long to do all those miles The bloke who imported it before kept every receipt!!! and when i looked through them i noticed he kept import reciept,he imported a 1996 car in early 1997 with very few km on clock and the clock now reads 110,000 miles (he even had it converted to read miles instead of Kilometers on the ODO meter. It doesnt miss a beat and in 2 yrs of ownership touch wood. Not 1 single problem part from dead battery!
lockys96
I was told by another friend who deals with imports, I was talking to him about engines, i was looking for a gt4 st205, but got the SUPRA. He told me "at least the 3.0 has more of a chance" and that was over 2.0 litre cars

TLicense
Tell him to feck off. There's no way on this planet, nay, in this universe, with the current laws of physics, that unless he's spent mucho £££ on his car it will ever beat you. Even if you base it on power to weight ratio, 115bhp at 820 kg = 140bhp/1000kg Supra = 320bhp at approx 1600kg = 200bhp/1000kg The only chance he'll have is if he's modified it, and your NA. Basically he's got to get 160odd bhp from his 1397cc if your stock TT. If you've modified your car he's got to find a correspondingly larger amount. As for Supra engines being soft. How many 1400BHP R5 turbo's are out there??
chilli
What a joker lol. Remind him that his engine is likely to explode instantly if it was pushing out anything like the power of even a standard supe, let alone a lightly modded one. Heck they even blow up at standard power levels! Those damn french engines are made of cheese, certainly not the 2jz. He is sadly derranged lol. If he needs convincing, show him a pic of the shoddy crank out of the 1.4 and show him the mammoth crank from the 2jz - end of story... lockys96
He was saying that before i bought it, i think he was trying to throw me off the idea of owning a beast!!! If he is refuring to 1000hp supras then the engines may be compared to soft, but only as they are tunned to near maximum performance where bigger things can go wrong, im not sure what bhp his R5 is, but he never said he would beat my supra, however he has said he's whipped imprezza's so he is saying his car is sub 4 secs 0-60 my supra aint stock, should be 340-350hp
SUPRALOOPY
however he has said he's whipped imprezza's so he is saying his car is sub 4 secs 0-60 wait till you get your supe, most scoobys will be a doddle. but you will get annoyed that no one wants to play with you... chilli
TBH his car is a tin box shopping cart, he is almost certainly jealous. R5's arn't quick, just old and rubbish. The only thing they were "good" at was the 0-50 dash, and they arn't that great at that really. I can't really remember the last 400 or 500 bhp R5 I saw as a daily driver lol, probably because they don't exist. Let him waste his money on it, it's a lost cause at the end of the day. It will probably blow up on him at some point, when it does, remind him of his wise words
lockys96
well, i will do just that, if he ever gets it back on the road.
Bobbeh
Go ask him if he can get 1000bhp out of a stock engine.
DShox
mileage. well im gonna come clean in the name of what mileage actually is - my work car is a 1993 vauxhall cavalier - it has 170,000 miles on it and still i drive it 100mph cruising up and down the M40. My next door neighbour has a 96 Vauxhall Astra Estate and that has 320,000 miles on there. My bro's Audi A6 has 160,000 miles on the clock. time to wake up to the modern era of engines - go forever!
