Suprakeith
Hi guys I currently have jspec manual N/A supra and I know a lot of people will say not worth it and waste of money, but am considering getting set of 264 cams for her and was looking for help weighting up the pros and cons please. I am running Nos at the moment and am thinking bigger picture as after have sorted bodywork will be doing na-t conversion. The cams are from states and are £300 so not big money just wondering if gains are worth it
Jellybean
I just put 264 in my TT BPU, marginal gains , had to buy a mappable ECU , (piggy back or standalone will do); If I knew the full extent of what was involved and $$$ versus gain , I would not of done it , might be 300 to buy but not far off the same again to fit Save your money for the NA T conversion and a set of Brakes
Suprakeith
That's quite shocking as I thought cams would of made big difference. Already got UK turbo spec brakes fitted ready for future conversion
Mike2JZ
Get yourself an aftermarket ECU first, I have my doubts as to weather the NA stock ecu can handle bigger cams without running like a dog
Jellybean
That's quite shocking as I thought cams would of made big difference. Already got UK turbo spec brakes fitted ready for future conversion Toyota did a good job , they would proviude a greater benefit if you had an aftermarket Turbo Not worth the hassle for 20-30 hp, would probably equate to 10hp on an NA Edited August 12, 2016 by Jellybean (see edit history)
Jellybean
Get yourself an aftermarket ECU first, I have my doubts as to weather the NA stock ecu can handle bigger cams without running like a dog It wont , it will think there is a big vacuum leak and compensate by running very rich Will soon cause oil contamination , borewash and then risk to your bearings due to lack of lubrication
Suprakeith
I won't waste getting them cams then,as was looking at upping power tiny bit until go turbo conversion. Will just focus on bodywork and maybe an ecu for her
