No heating from the blowers

The linkage you checked with the engine running did you turn the heater temperature dial and check the linkage moved?

personally I'd drain some coolant from the tap on the bottom of the rad (battery side), you'll have to remove the under tray but you should see a little drain pipe sticking out of a hole in it before you do. so drain a litre into ideally a clear container and see how crappy it actually is. the Toyota red coolant can go brown ish or it may be very rusty. WIth the coolant level down slightly, carefully remove the large top rad hose, the inside of this can tell you more, I've seen some with rust residue on the inner walls. I'd then consider detaching the in and out matrix pipes in the engine bay, getting some hose on both connections and taping them water'ish tight, then flush the matrix with a garden hose, with light pressure and have the out pipe go into a bucket, so you can look for crap, panning for gold style.

Order some decent concentrate antifreeze and deionised/distilled water , but don't put it in at this point, ideally the hose flush and then refilling the coolant with some of the distilled water will see you get some heat from the heater. if so I'd then do a complete complete drain flush and refill with the new stuff.

Awesome advice scooter. Already changed the top hose as I had a pin hole leak in the original one that was spraying on the aux belt. The pipe was brittle and had gunk in it, the lid on the expansion vessel was blocked with crap too. Was trying to get everything done for jae so wash pushing it a bit. Now I have the time to do a full work over. Oil plugs etc

I'd drain the whole system, drop the bottom rad hose off, flush the rad with a hose pipe and the matrix and check the rad cap

is ok, also check the link pipe between the expansion tank and the rad is also not blocked

Once its as clean as you can get it i'd fill with water and run it up to temp and see if you now have a working heater

For what they cost I'd also replace the thermostat before you re fill with coolant, just so you know its future proofed

Going to have the day off tomorrow and start the job. Don't get me wrong I can live without a heater I'm more concerned that there are bigger problems further down the line and now I have a supra I don't want it going pop like the 300 and r33 did

The na's are very tough, seems this one has either been a bit neglected coolant wise, or has had rad weld type stuff added to try and fix a leak.

Get ready with that garden hose to flush flush and flush again the rad etc. I'd be tempted to refill and idle it for a bit with plain water as I'm sure this would get more crap out the system, which is what you want prior to adding decent anti freeze. I'd look to getting a new rad cap soon ish as the inside of that and Spring may be bunged up.

It's a 95 TT auto. The rad looks fairly new can only assume before the car got to the garage I bought it from it was an issue and the gunk is just left over rad weld but I can't be sure.

You guys are legends. Disconnected the matrix and attached hoses, tried in one direction.....nothing. Tried in the other and still no flow. After a few attempts at this and a pop a bung of gunk shot out the hose. The matrix didn't leak and after putting it back together it runs perfectly. Not too hot and the blower pumps the heat when required.

Didn't do a rad flush today. That's tomorrow's job, got to do the oil and plug change tomorrow too. She seems down on power and the pickup seems a bit lame. Boosting max 0.6 on both.
