I finally did it!

After many many years of wanting a Supra i finally did it! :D

Picked up my '93 NA on Sunday and drove it up from London. The owner before me claims that the previous owner lost all the paperwork so I've not got any service history with the car. The car is now with Mick, upon glowing recommendations in the forums, for a full check and service. Fingers crossed Mick won't find any major issues. It drove up the M1 with a couple of concerns but nothing sounded wrong with the engine. Here's hoping that my dream car doesn't turn into a nightmare! :)

Thanks everyone! Yes annabella i found the mot history and was initially worried about the mix of miles and km readings. But should be okay. :D

Just got a call back from mick. As expected, brakes, tyres and suspension need doing. *deep breath*

Mick has been very helpful and sensible about what needs doing and what can wait. I think he's charging labour at £45/hr plus VAT which is the same as past posts on the forum. :)

Mick is the mechanic who came with a glowing recommendation on one of the other threads on this forum by Ellis. Mick has a supra himself :)

My car needs new brakepads, callipers and flexipipes. The exhaust needs a new tailpipe and box. The shock absorbers are misting, so a new set of those. Windscreen washer not working, not sure how it passed its MOT. Cambelt probably needs changing in the coming months. Front tyres in terrible condition so a new pair there.

I guess this is just the risk of buying a cheap car off ebay and one without service history. I think it will end up costing me as much as if I had bought one with a good service history, but at least I know that the work has been newly done by someone who knows and loves supras. :D

I knew it was a bit of a gamble @marbleapple, but the HPI came back clear so fingers crossed my dreamcar doesn't turn into a nightmare. All the work listed above are stuff that I probably would need to do at some point anyways, so at least I can drive the car with confidence once its done! :)

Cambelt, don't overly stress as the engine is non interference so no major harm will come from a belt breaking (and they never do! but might as well inspect by removing the top cover over the cam pulleys)

Re the washers you might not be pressing the button in on the end of the stalk to get fluid, lifting the stalk will just do the wipers :)

If.you.need brakes I have complete set from low miles.car with discs and pads.

Thanks novak but mick has sorted me out a new set already. Didn't think to ask the forums. Anyone have a 2 box stainless steel exhaust with tail pipe for sale? :)
