The Raven
So. Hot on the heels of my return to childhood with the painting of toys, i have regressed further and dug out the metal detector that hasnt been used in years. Its cheap and nasty but does the trick. So if your interested i will put the cool stuff in this thread. So day One. Set it up wrong, found lots of pointless things, from lumps of iron to nails. A sit down and work out of the settings and time to try again. Bingo, Half penny from 1930. *joy* Yesterday i took my son to the beach and took it with us. Found this. No idea what it is but i couldnt dig it up as i had no bigger tools.

The Raven
Ok nearly shat myself, just found a small horde of coins..... Alas they are modern, I found them by what seems to be an old bonfire, 1998? only one person would be doing that here at that time, my late dad.......he would be wetting himself if he could have seen me digging them all up and cleaning them... The Raven
Few more bits. First off another bullet case, using the numbers on the bottom of it i traced it to 1944 Royal Ordnance Factory Blackpole, Worcestershire, UK. This Cadbury Bros. Ltd. factory was temporarily converted into an ordnance plant for the war effort. With a few coins and an old spoon i found to i think the field was used to train or house troop prior to D Day. Now the big one, dug this one up on a field out by Canterbury Took a bit of time to get the ID but its come back as a coin belonging to "Aurelius Mausaeus Carausius" 287-293 AD" its 1700 years old! The Raven
Ive found a few people on a forum that have permission to dig on some farm land. None of it it beach stuff. Farmers are dicks about this kinda stuff, tons of land, i have a permission letter than states anything of value will be split, they are free to check on me any time and i will meet them once a week to show them what i find. SO far everyone of them them has said no. We are talking cut corn fields......
