brassbones
Probably an old chestnut but nothing is popping out in search ... Is there a adapter that can allow you to read off the diagnostics port inside the car using a standard ODB2 reader? Also, the port under the bonnet? Is that a normal ODB2? Mike2JZ
Short answer, no easy way to get it working, adapters don't seem to work. Slightly longer answer, allegedly only some readers can do it, and are either really expensive for the average person or are in japan and in Japanese. There was a thread a while ago on the canadian supra forums where some guy was developing and selling an ODB1 reader, but even when he got it working it was very limited with what it was able to report on. Both diagnostic ports on a Jspec NA are ODB1. We will have to settle with the good old paperclip diagnostics

Nic
Tried one of these recently, it can be connected to the pre-facelift Toyota OBD1 diagnostic port and will stream real time data. http://jfbreton.blogspot.co.uk/2014/11/toyobd1-android-datalogger-exporting.html
brassbones
Cool. What connector did you use? Was it straight from the port to android phone?

Nic
Cool. What connector did you use? Was it straight from the port to android phone? There are 4 wires that you connect to the diagnostic port then it connects via Bluetooth to your phone.
Angarak
@Nic Quoting from the creators article on installing the reader: "Please take note that some luxury and sports car, LS400, mk4 supras, SC400 and Soarer will need a jumper to be placed in another diagnostic port under the dashboard. Details for those cars are available in the application glossary dialog." Did you have to use a jumper as mentioned above?
