Gpro
I recently bought a pair of R888 tyres 275/40/18 to replace my 285/30/18 595 RSR. I used to have severe traction issues so ended up going with a big profile. FYI so far no traction issues , just very, very unstable, see below. Due to the size of the new tyres, I had to raise the rear end of the car to stop it from rubbing, but I can't get the rear end to level on both sides. I tried measuring the coilovers threads to ensure they are equal, but when I put the car back on the ground the wheel gap is was way off from one side to the other. I tried adjusting the height independently to get it to level, but still having issues. The coilover height is approximately 4" different to the other side and still can't get it to level. I understand that the supra isn't equally balanced so one side might be higher/lower to compensate for weight, but surely it should need that much adjustment from one side to the other?. One of the coilovers is pretty much maxed out in terms of height, can't go any higher. Are my coilovers F*****? I'm looking at replacing them with a set of HKS Hipermax IV, but just wanted peoples opinion before spending a large amount of £££ only to find I have another issue. Frank Bullitt
If I were looking to drop that sort of £££'s I'd be going to see Chris Wilson to have something custom made.

Frank Bullitt
You are considering new suspension if I follow you correctly?

Frank Bullitt
For the sort of money it will cost you on the HKS stuff you could get Chris Wilson to put a set together for you. His suspension is easily the best out there for the Supra Drop him an email though, no pm's

I'm likely to change tyre or wheel sizes in the near future. Plus I have read too many good reviews about the HKS coilovers.
Frank Bullitt
I thought CW's are adjustable? But if you are set on the HKS that doesn't really matter
Gpro
Done a quick search on the forum, but can't find any images of CW's coilovers. That doesn't fill me with confidence. If they were full coilover kits, I would expect to find a picture of them somewhere...
Frank Bullitt
I think Chris will make anything you want. I found custom made adjustable height CW Bilsteins here - http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?227950-Increase-in-suspenion-ride-hieght-with-new-insulators Best to contact him direct and ask Edited July 16, 2016 by Frank Bullitt Spelling. Marty
JimC's car in that thread linked is now my car. The fronts are adjustable but the rears arent, he does do adjustable sleeves for both front and back though I think. I'm thinking of getting the rears done. Angarak
Chris has just fitted his suspension to my Supra and he said it can be made adjustable if I wanted it - though there are limits. I previously had HKS Hypermax 2 coilovers which would point out every imperfection in the road. I've only done a couple hundred miles on the new setup but its put a big smile on my face compared to the previous setup.
Chris Wilson
I can supply Bilstein Sports, either with stock valving, or custom, for either stock springs or my own custom springs. Ride height adjustment means removing the damper unit. I can do on car adjustable ones, but most people never adjust them once set, and they are expensive. Your issue is you have the wrong wheel size / offset ; tyre size. Aduusting suspension height or stiffness to stop tyre to wheel arch contact is a total disaster, NOTHING should touch, front or rear from full droop to on the bump stops, (lock to lock at the front end) Thanks guys for the kind words re my suspension
Marcus GTE
I've read that the right rear of the supra is the lightest corner so it can sit higher due to that reason.
Chris Wilson
I've read that the right rear of the supra is the lightest corner so it can sit higher due to that reason. It's not, and corner weights on a floppy as a bag road car with rubber bushed dampers and suspension links is probably overkill. So long as the springs match and their position relative to the damper's lower mount are identical, it's probably perfectly adequate.
