a98pmalcolm
I have been searching the net and I'm not having much luck. I can't seem to get the correct plastic wheel rivets for my wheels, so I will just self thread real bolts in there. What I need is a socket head cap (so you screw up with an allen key) with an M8 thread (so it fills the 8mm hole) 12mm and 13mm in length.. But the the difficult one it needs to have a 10mm head diameter. M8 socket cap end bolts are always 13mm head diameter. Another option is a M8 grub screw but that would look like crap. Any ideas or advice would be appreciated
pedrosixfour
Not being funny mate, but if the holes are 8mm they're already too big to hold M8 fasteners. Tapping size for M8 is less than 7mm. If you're planning on just sticking an M8 fastener into an 8mm hole then what about getting whatever quantity you need in aluminium cap screws and getting the heads turned down to the correct diameter for your wheels? The main benefit of the aluminium is that the turned surface won't corrode so you won't need to worry about that, but they'll also be much lighter than the steel equivalent. The holes are smaller than 8 mm there about 7.5 I started to self tap an m8 bolt into the hole and it seemed to catch ok.. Even a dab of glue can help as the old plastic rivets were a push fit..
