Milo500
Aftenoon lads, Have eventually got the first knocking noise I have ever had on this car haha, had to happen at some point. It isn't all the time and happens usually on the motorway at about 60-90 (in Mexico ofcourse haha). I havn't been able to have a look yet, but it sounds like the drivetrain? What could it be? It also isn't that loud in the way that you can hear it, as opposed you being able to feel it through the floor. I have a feeling like it almost feels a brake pad binding, but not sure. If anyone has had this sort of problem before please shout, if not then any suggestions very appreciated :) :) (It is an auto single converted from twin) Cheers, Tom
Dnk
Certainly worth checking the brakes first as they are prone to problems if still the originals and never been serviced Hold the back of your hand close to the wheels after you've driven the car and you might feel one is hotter than the rest. Milo500
Pretty certain one is binding a bit, as it cracked one of the old discs a few months ago, then I changed the pads and the rear discs...and now this is happening m. One of my mates (mechanic) thinks it could be the bearing between the two parts of the propshaft...sound like a usual thing to go? Chris Wilson
Seized calipers will cause similar noise to that you are describing. + a cracked disc....
Milo500
Have ordered a rebuild kit for the one caliper that has always been 'a bit bindey' hopefully that will sort it...and hopefully I havn't cracked another disc.. Surely if the disc is cracked it will be all of the time? ?
