coza Posted July 11, 2016 Share Posted July 11, 2016 Hi Issues with my power steering , I had a leak and didnt spot it until the steering got really hard to turn I put new fluid and the colour of that turn brown after a few miles and the pump doesn't seem to work any ideas ? See if there is any shaft wobble etc Mine was making a rattling noise when the engine was up to temperature, but the PS was still working. a98pmalcolm Posted July 11, 2016 Share Posted July 11, 2016 (edited) I had a similar issue.. I topped up using VW stuff and my steering went super stiff. Its the type of fluid you have uses, also mixing old with new, you need to use dexron 3. You wont need much, its with doing a full bleed before replacing. I did this and it sorted the problem. Do follow the guide Malcolm posted if the fluid isn't nice and clean and the system still isn't working correctly, it solved a similar issue with my PAS system.
