ben_harmer32
My car has a flashing OD light. Speedo was all working and reading in MPH. Thought it might be the convertor so removed that and it reads fine in KPH but OD light is still flashing. Have checked error codes and have the usual code 42. Any ideas what else I could try please? Car also has optional extra cruise control which I haven't used at all yet due to flashing light.

and1c
Does od still work? As in so you have a 4th gear?
ben_harmer32
When I press the button on the shifter I can hear it changing between 3rd and 4th, but after doing the wiring mod yesterday I now have no OD light on the dash at all. Ric
usually the speed sensor in the gear box. or the plastic gear tooth on the sensor has failed. they arent expensive for the toothed part, sensor isnt that cheap.

Ric
If this was the case wouldn't the speedo not work? Theres 2 sensors AFAIK, one for the ecu and box, one for the speedo/rev counter Edit - Error 42 relates to speed sensor 1 Edited July 11, 2016 by Ric (see edit history)
ben_harmer32
Ok, got a new converter. Wired it to the back of the Speedo and odometer as per instructions. Everything is working but after nearly 2 hours the light has just started flashing again. I took out the above mentioned wiring mod as the converter used those wires. Is it worth removing the converter from the odometer (leaving the Speedo bits) and doing the above wiring mod again? Will this make it read in KM even though the Speedo is in MPH?? Konrad
Normally it starts flashing when readout from speedo/odometer line is not same as one ECU is getting from same sensor. Most people nailed it down to odometer buffer, in your case it is easy to bypass odometer and feed wire directly from speed converter to ECU to heal a problem.
