Big Mark
Now that I've converted interier to blue LEDs and have a defi boost gauge that is all black when off but then the numbers light up in a bright blue when on i'm thinking the main clocks would look nice if they were similar. So looking into it, it appears that I need plasma dials? Only ones I've found that I like the look of are these ones http://xtuners.com/shop/Plasma-dials-Esferas-de-Plasma/Toyota/Supra-right-hand-drive-automatic Any got any experience with plasma dials? Worth it or are can there be issues? That's the look i want but will got for 8000RPM version
ripped_fear
They are lovely, very tastefull! Much nicer than the moman ones everyone went mad for a few years back. Never had experience with them but will follow this thread closely!
evinX
I had the momans and soon got tired of them. The oem led conversions from Stu Hagen and the daddys.
Delboy52
I've been experimenting with EL panels. They can be retro fitted to any OE style backlit face design. They hate being dimmed though. ianhid
My dials had blue LED's behind them, I wasn't a fan so I've been putting them back to white. The dials are a bit too monochrome blue for my liking with just swapping the bulb colour. Biggest issue I've heard from people fitting dial faces is that you never get the needles back on in quite the right place.
Big Mark
Am I right in thinking they light up all the time, unlike factory dials that only come on when you turn on your lights?

Mine, dim to, really bright when on full, can pick what colours you want to. Got my needles done to

Big Mark
Biggest issue I've heard from people fitting dial faces is that you never get the needles back on in quite the right place. I think the trick is to let the needles drop to the stops, them lift them over the stops so they drop to there true position. Take a photo or whatever of that position, then remove the needles, fit dials and then put needles back on in those positions.
Delboy52
The fuel and temp were ok, they stayed in place (take a before photo). The tacho and spedometer drop further than the stops with no needles so have to put them back on whilst the car is running. Tacho goes on at your normal idle, spedometer is more tricky needing a gps for speed and putting the needle back on whilst in motion. Passenger can do it on a nice long straight ideally. inazone
My dials slipped over the needles without having to take them off. Just have to take your time with them. Mine are wired in so that they come on with the lights. Mine are also sound activated. I can have a mini disco with a flame effect dials. Dances to the music! Big Mark
I emailed the seller asking a few questions and stating the look I want it to match my defi boost gauge. Got a reply this morning.......... "Yes, theoretically the plasma dials could do the job. I can make them dark to match the Defi look. In my car I have the same set up, but I am not using plasma dials. I upgraded the illumination to super bright SMD LED stripes + gauge needles illumination from my shop. The gauge cluster window was covered with some transparent black foil to appear dark when the gauges are OFF. And all gauge cluster illumination components were connected to the ignition key circuit and not to the lights switch. Now I have the same look like the Defi black gauges.." Decisions decisions..........
BoostJunky86
The video look good on that guys page where they flash as a shift light. Been looking at dials in mine as they're still KPH/KMS would be nice to fit new gauges reading the correct miles do it follows on smoothly and keeps the mileage true and continued from factory. He seems to do some nice touches on the dash too!
