Bluudy
Hey everyone. I've just been cranking my NA-T build to get the oil around the engine after dropping the engone back in. But there is no oil pressure. The oil filter is brand new and still bone dry Any clue what could be the cause? Knackered oil pump? There's no leaks and the oil is reading fI'll on dip stick. I have not removed the pump during the build process. But I habe had the sump off to drill for my oil drain Any help appreciated. rider
Are you sure you have the correct filter fitted. If the filter is too short for the housing then the screw stem can seat on the valve preventing flow. Saw that on a MGB once.
Lee P
Did you put a new strainer gasket on when you did the sump? Could be drawing air in Hey everyone. Mike2JZ
I was watching your videos, was this on the original engine of the car, or the NA-T engine? If it was the NA-T one, did you ever see it run? If it were me I would get an oil pressure tester on the engine asap and figure out if you are making absolutely no pressure at the sensor, or if there is something watch the behavior of the pressure reading. Could be a worn pump caused by blockage? If you are in need of a GE oil pump, I've just taken one off mine that I know runs that I can donate to help with your test
Mk4Gaz
Where are you taking the reading from, and what are you using to do it?
Bluudy
Hey guys yes this is the other engine. No I've never seen it run. I have a spare working oil pump if needs be on my original engine but thanks for the offer. This engine hasn't had oil in it for a good few months. Would the pump require priming. I have no gauge fitted to read no pressure. I'm saying I have no pressure as there is no oil making its way to the oil filter and sandwich plate they are still dry. Strainers gasket is spot on. I made sure I checked many times.
Mike2JZ
You using the correct type of bolt for the sandwich plate? I've seen some bad chinese ones that don't come with bolts that have holes to allow oil to flow through
Bluudy
Yeah Mike it's spot on.
trebor69
When I did my N/A-T I cranked it over for what seemed an age before the oil light went out, it really was a long time...2/3 minutes, was fine after that. You did use a gasket on the oil pick up and tighten it up properly??? .....Of course you did:)
Chris Wilson
Crqnk it with all the plugs out, for at least 30 seconds. If no oil then you should stop and pull it apart. Otherwise the crank bearings are likely to start running dry.
TBDevelopments
I get this alot on builds. I find the best way is to remove the plugs. Remove the oil filter and ceank until it spurts from the filter housing. Then refit the oil filter. Its almost like an airlock in the filter. Once it comes from the block housing itll prime fairly quickly once the filter is refit.
