ECU Wiring Help

Recommended Posts

Since Owning my 93 twinturbo auto supra I have had the annoying OD light flashing problem. Mine throws up gearbox error 89.

I have tried numerous things to try and resolve this such as, Checking the tps, Removing the kmh converter and putting the wiring back to std, the pink wire Mod and finally today i fitted a different Trac ECU and my problem is still there.

The reason for this post is, whilst fitting the trac ecu I unplugged the main ecu and had a good look at the wiring. I found 2 sets of 2 wires that are in a protective style covering but they dont quite look right and coincidentally they are both wires that are to do with the trac ecu.

Orange and white and black and white are pins 13 and 14 and pins 26 and 27.

Could anyone tell me if these are how they should be or if not... how they should be .

They are screens for stopping intereference, they will be grounded at the other end somewhere. They are fine as they are. Has the car got a speedo converter? Is it wired correctly, or even the right type for a MKIV?

Hi Chris thanks for your reply, I did think as much with the screens as every wire coming out of the ecu is connected.

There was a speedo converter fitted but I removed it and the problem was still there. I managed to get hold of a UK set of clocks and fitted them and the problem is still there.

An absolute monkey had attempted wiring on my car before I bought it and I removed any unwanted accessories and reconnected anything that I thought had been tampered with.

Behind the stereo are a few ECU style boxes, could any of them be connected to the issue?

I will get the dash apart tomorrow and have a double check that everything is connected properly.

It's a growing problem I think with lots just putting up with it, I for one am interested in your findings, seems you swapped in most possible suspect parts?

Have you tried the Main ecu or any of the actual gearbox sensors etc, I know it's not ideal doing this (Chris!) but for us part time mechanics/enthusiasts it is sometimes the only way!

I've got the same issue, so would be up for trying anything you haven't. Other than the flashing light what symptoms do you have? On mine the traction control doesn't work but I think everything else is normal, is that the same for you?

I actually did start off thinking I had a traction control issue but I soon found out that was because someone had removed the bulb showing the slip off.

Mine seems to drive as it should and changes up and down as it should.

My main reason for wanting to resolve this is because I'm having a a new AEM infinity fitted using the std ecu to control the gearbox and am slightly worried it may effect the mapping of the car as I have no manu mode
