abtin90
We have a sky box but want to buy some sort of transmitter to watch it in another room on the rare occasion. Now I understand you can't watch something different in the other room but that won't a problem. I've seen the magic eye online but am I right in thinking this requires running a coxial cable from one room to another? Also does anyone know of any other devices that work wirelessly and allow you to change the channel from the room your in? Thanks in advance. kitch79
Hi. Yeah the red eye requires a cable linked, and isn't in HD. I run 2 red eyes off one box. If you can get a wireless one, I'll be all over that! If you've got sky go, and a Xbox or PlayStation, you can effecting use that a sky box. Albeit limit channels, movies, sports, main sky ones, itv is on there now, few other.
ripped_fear
My parents have a wireless one to the TV in the kitchen. They can control the box from the kitchen but both rooms have to watch the same channel. They do lose a little bit of picture quality but still looks great. Can find out what box it is of you like, wasnt expensive and they have had it a few years
Ric
The new sky box allows this, Sky q You can record 4 channels watch a 5th and stream sky to another q boxes around the house, it's like multi room but wireless
Tricky-Ricky
Just go multi room or sky Q and you can watch whatever you want, I have just gone Q and you basically get multi room plus UHD (not transmitted until August) and watch on tablets for £12 more than the std subscription. mwilkinson
Unless you have a cat 5 / 5e or 6 system installed in the house, or are willing to run cables everywhere, sky q or multiroom is probably your best bet.

Not having HD isn't too big of a deal though. I do have sky go but don't have a device such as a ps4 to watch it on. My parents have a wireless one to the TV in the kitchen. Not bothered about having to watch the same things as we will be in one room or the other. Did you upgrade during your current contract and when doing so does it tie you down for another twelve months? I ask as ours is set to run out in august and I'm debating on whether to change to Virgin. Unless you have a cat 5 / 5e or 6 system installed in the house, or are willing to run cables everywhere, sky q or multiroom is probably your best bet. Thanks will look into Sky q later tonight. However not sure itll be worthwhile unless I stick with sky for another 12 months

abtin90
Also I found a solution that works for me. I bought this transmitter from Amazon: Nikkai A31JL Mini 5.8Ghz Wireless TV Audio Video Sender & Receiver Kit - No interferance with Wifi. Compact Size https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B003KVMYA0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_RvBzxb923MN3F Got it on the same day with Amazon prime and works great only downside is that the receiving tv won't be in HD. But still very happy with it. I've included the link if anyone else is looking for a cheap solution.
berg
I install it for a living, i would recommend sky q myself but im biased In this day and age i really would forget about magic eyes and rf cable to stream to another room, quality isnt great especially on these big hd tv's, new sky equipment is being made to phase tv link systems out as they are ancient technology, youd be pissed if the box needs replacing and youre told the tv link will no longer work Just get a hdmi splitter and run a long hdmi cable instead of rf, digital loses no picture quality over length and youll recieve full hd in the other room
berg
Or depending how much cash you want to burn the wireless HDMI senders are good, most will send 1080p upto 30m wireless
DodgyRog
Sky Q vote here, get the Silver Bundle though, Mini Box works though your Network to allow a 2nd Sky system in the house It also allows you to watch different channels in different rooms as well a record upto 4 different things while watching something else on the main box 2 Tb memory as well
