Cigarette lighter not working

Hi guys.

I was blowing up an under inflated tyre tonight using one of them air compressors thats powered of the cigarette lighter. During inflation the compressor quit. The compressors plug at the cigarette lighter felt hot. Thereafter the compressor wouldnt work, tried it in another car and it worked no issue, the cigarette lighter itself would not work either, once pushed in it stayed in. The master warning light is illuminated as is the door open symbol despite the fact the doors are shut. Everything else appears to ge working as it should. It replaced the 15 amp fuse in the box in the drivers footwell but it hasnt made any difference.

Have any of you guys encountered this and what is the fix.

Any help appreciated.

Occasionally the cigarette lighter units themsevles just give up. I've never bothered to diagnose the problem, it might be as simple as a dry solder on the contacts behind or something like that. This thread might help if you're able to try a different one. I would get a multimeter across the terminals on the back of it, and see if it's getting power.
