bayside_supra
Hi guys I have been trying to search for a definitive answer on this forum for ages about this and everything points to buying a Thor speed delimiter which do not seem to exist anymore. I have a 93 aerotop TT 6 speed import, was originally an NA auto. It has a UK 180 MPH speedo which functions perfectly but it still clocks in KM on the odometer (which I want to keep). As soon as the speedo hits 120 MPH it hits the limiter, I am guessing the speedo over reads a little and the wheel speed is actually 112 MPH. Obviously I was on a track when I tested this I would like the speedo and everything to stay the same but the speed limiter to be bypassed, the cheap ebay ones will all convert my speedo down to KPH which I do not want. I am sure a Thor racing one would work but I cannot seem to find one. The only option I can find is this GReddy Speed Cut Controller. Can someone confirm this will have the desired effect before I order it, hopefully other people have used this. http://www.shopgreddy.com/15590201.html Sorry to bring up something that has been asked a million times before, but it has not been asked for a while and Thor have disappeared since. Thanks
supra_ufo
I have literally just taken off my limiter, I picked up a used one from Keron (Thor) I would give Keron a PM and ask him or contact Garage Whifbitz or even Chris Wilson Mine is very unusual, sometimes it hits a limiter and sometimes it doesnt, I have reached 160MPH in my car yet other times it reads 120/130 and hits a limiter of some sort. I dont quite understand it tbh lol.

stevie_b
Everything you've said is correct. The speedo will tend to over-read a bit, that's normal. I don't have any experience of this particular converter, but I'm 99% sure it'll do exactly what you want.
bayside_supra
http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?333073-Top-quality-precision-FCD-s-(Fuel-Cut-Defenders)-for-sale I've already got one of these and asked Chris Wilson if he can help with the delimiter too but he hasn't got anything. I may ask Keron for a used Thor one. The GReddy looks to do the job, glad you agree Stevie. Has anyone actually used one before?

bayside_supra
Right turns out GReddy do not ship to the uk. I went on eBay and found this. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/191820042265 Do we think this will work? Looks as though it should.

Chris Wilson
If your car is an auto things are more complex if you want the auto box to work properly. With most Ebay limiters you need a second device that clamps the gearbox speed sensor output at a fixed frequency for speed de limiting to work properly. The TRL one addressed all these issues, but Pete is now in the US developing electric vehicles and no longer makes these.
bayside_supra
My car was an auto but has been converted to a manual. I bet that complicates things more lol
Chris Wilson
Not really if you understand the wiring.
monkey3
Whifbitz do the HKS ones For manual tt and non-t 93-97: http://www.garagewhifbitz.co.uk/hks-sld-type-1.html And for vvti tiptronic: http://www.garagewhifbitz.co.uk/hks-sld-type-2.html (Not sure where post-97 vvti fits into this though)
monkey3
What would happen if you de-limited but left as kph and then went over 200kph so that the needle hit the distance reset button? As the speedo is electronic, would it actually cause a problem? Or would it just be wedged against the reset button until you dropped back below that speed? Chris Wilson
Most unlikely to damage the speedo head.
