Pixelfill
Yeah I do, how about a film with a guy that is a cop and goes undercover to track down some thieves, we could even put a Supra in it and loads of other jap cars but to keep the yanks happy we'll stick a big muscle car in with some sentimentle bullshite story line. Now thats original That actually sounds like a good film, who knows maybe there'll be a couple of sequels
RedM
Wasn't Star Wars a rip-off of The Seven Samurai?

Now thats original Noooooo.... ...unless it's remade as a bleak drama about illegal bullock-cart racing, set in fourteenth century Sweden. F+ F is the absolute pits. Rock bottom exploitation scripted by a ten year old.
Chipmunk
Planet of the Apes...don't even go there on the remake !

I'll nominate "Shaving Ryan's Privates".
RedM
Planet of the Apes wasn't a remake. It was a re-imagining! Oh, how we laugh about it now.

One person starts it off with a line, next poster adds to the script in whatever way they think annnnnnnd so on. Good idea or do I just need my horlicks and bed? Jake
We could co-produce 'The Fist And The Furry Arse' ...on second thoughts....
Rob
The Spy who Loved Me is a remake of You Only Live Twice. The World is Not Enough is a remake of Goldfinger. Die Another Day is a remake of all of them. The Running Man was a remake of some french Film, can't remember the name. Running Man is much better though. SkyJawa
Texas Chainsaw Massacre - remake was poo. Dawn of the Dead - both great, but the remake just wins it for me
terribleturner
What about Taxi?? Both crap IMO.
outatime
I watched the remakes of 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre' and 'Dawn of the Dead' recently. They were both ok as action films, but about as scary as Blue Peter. The originals (especially TCM) had a strange, unsettling menace that was totally absent in the new versions. lust2luv
Dawn of the Dead remake is waaay scarier than the original. Running zombies! Will grant you the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre was scarier.
outatime
I thought '28 Days Later' did the running Zombie thing better, there is something about the way they shuffle slowly around the mall in the original Dawn of the Dead. It was more creepy, IMO, and the swipes at consumerism were better aimed.
JohnA
Ah, OK the critics say that 'Abre los ojos' is better - what do you reckon?. I haven't seen it. I've seen them both. Penelope plays in both you know. I think that the Hollywood version was slightly better in this case, by a small margin. Unusual for Hollywood. Also the remake of the 'Fly' was slightly better than the original, which was not too bad in the first place...
outatime
Thomas Crown Affair - the original is fluff, the new one is better fluff. Evil Dead 2 - a superior remake and sequel Also, 'Ben Hur' and 'The Maltese Falcon' (40's version) are indisputably better. Edited to add, agree with JohnA - Cronenberg's 'The Fly', much better than the fifties original..

lust2luv
Surprised no-one's mentioned Rollerball or Alfie or the Longest Yard... all pointless remakes. I did quite like The Italian Job remake, mainly because it was barely a remake at all, so stood on its own two feet.

Best bit was the start seeing london so empty - VERY freaky, and as it was a UK city and places I've been makes it closer to home than some yank town........ Saw there was supposedy a House of the Dead film from the Sega game, has it been released yet?
