Police apology for use of Islamic chant/praise during anti extremist excercise

Should they have issued the apology?

It was an exercise to prepare for the possible suicide attack by religious extremists, designed to be as close to the real thing as possible. I am not sure how many suicide attacks have been carried out in the west by groups other than Islamic extremists using the chant at the onset, I would guess very few. Political correctness gone mad?

if it was an anti-terror operation specifically around islamic terrorists then the words would be befitting, however I think this was not staged around one particular sect/religion/group and a general 'anti-terror operation' and therefore someone saying allah hoo-akbar could be construed as 'GMP think 'every terrorist is a muslim' thus it being politically and technically incorrect.

Jesus. I think the complaints are over the top but I would also question what benefit a staged terrorist attack would give compared to real world conditions and decision making.

You cannot create the adrenaline and panic that a real terrorist attack creates in my opinion.

This test is to check how emergency services respond.

And that's to all aspects of the situation.

From medical, police, fire and intelligence gathering.

Tests like these are conducted all the time.

The Armed forces do a hell of a lot more exercises involving terrorists.

I wasnt going to post because reading some posts so far with the exception of 'Fars' illustrates how selfish and ignorant some people can be and ill explain why......

I am a Muslim, a good Muslim, a caring and considerate Muslim, the type of Muslim that is described by the Quran. I am not perfect, i have sinned and done many things wrong but i try to be as good as i can to all of my fellow men, regardless of race or religion, as this is what my Religion of Islam preaches to me. To love and respect all and to live an honest life.

Time and time again, especially on this forum, the reason why I call some members 'Selfish' is because you genuinely dont know now how it feels to be a Muslim in this world. Were on the train you sneeze and say 'Shukur-Ulhumdolilah' (Allah Bless and thank him) and people step away from you thinking you have C4 under your jacket. Were your God, Prophet and religion is defamed on and off line due to propoganda and in order to keep the respect for your fellow man you need to quietly swallow it and stay quiet. It genuienly hurts and is very upsetting how Muslims globally are being targeted and have to take the brunt for a bunch of F**k Tards that have no faith, no religion and no morals. Yes I am one of the ones who was genuinely fuming of the drill done in Manchester. An no i dont want an apology, i dont want somebody to say sorry for using my God's name and associating it with a terrorist blowing stuff up. What i want is for my fellow man to respect me as i respect him, i want my fellow man to understand that using my Gods name in that context is very rude and SELFISH, I want my fellow man to understand that the difference between me and that terrorist is exactly the same as the difference between HIM and that terrorist. If my fellow man understands this and respects this, then during that drill 'Allah Hu-Akbar' would not have been chanted and once again Islam and all of it followers would not be associated or potrayed as terrorists, i hope all of you kind of understand what im trying to say. I have been a member of this forum for a very long time and my views and opinions do matter as do my personal feelings, i love this place and have done my fair share for it, i have helped members etc without any gain for myself and did it for blessings as an honourable Muslim. Your all my brothers regardless of your faith or race.

2nd Part - Arrogance - Ill make this quick. TERRORISTS are not muslim nor do they share the views or beliefs of any muslim in this world. Islam is strictly against the actions of Isis, Taliban, Al-Qaeda and any more the west using propoganda can conjure up. Even the words 'Islamic Terrorist' makes absolutely no sense, those two words cannot be put together as they fully contradict each other. Suicide bombers etc. are all spineless little mongs that once blowing themselves up are getting a First Class ride to deep shores of Hell. Any terror group, regardless of religion or race are quiet simply TERRORISTS, no other label applies, they have no morals, no belief, no background, heritage or common sense, as we all know all terrorists use some sort of face to JUSTIFY there actions, but people today I hope are smart enough that we have seen TERRORISTS in all of our history use these faces and that its all rubbish.

Love and respect you all and i hope the feelings are Mutual.

I think more than just some members of this forum need to read this. By yelling 'Allahu Ackbar' in a mock terrorist attack the police actually broke the law (Insighting racial hatred iirc) and I'd expect them to apologise. Seems petty to non-Muslims but to Muslims it's extremely insulting.

Imagine the uproar if in Germany for example in the same situation (police exercise in a public domain) and a police officer playing a terrorist yelled "Heil Hitler!" They'd probably go to prison, forced resignation etc

Silly mistake but it caused a lot of offence

Thanks mate, Fully agree with everything you said bud, last line though, 'silly mistake'. i seriously dont feel as if it was a mistake, this drill must have been practised loads of times, just somewhere along the line they believed that they SHOULD say what they said. Imagine the people involved in this, they probably hate Muslims more than terrorists, Psychology 101 - Self fulfilling prophecy.

Its quiet hard for me to explain this, its not offence like, its more like frustration, Muslims have argued and screamed to the top of their lungs 'Stop associating terrorists to Islam!' and we make a little progress and then something like this brings us all the way back to the same starting point, when i saw this on the news, my exact reaction was palm on my forehead, shaking my head from left to right, saying FFS! Here we go again................ Had it been offence i would have been swearing at the police and the actors who did the drill, i was cheesed at them dont get me wrong but i hope someone else can explain better what my chain of thought is.....

I agree with far and adnan. I didn't know how best to describe it, so initially I didn't post in this thread.

Probably (I have no evidence other than news reports) most terrorists in modern times do what they do in the name of Islam. But that doesn't make most Muslims terrorists. That's a very, very different thing.

Most terrorists are men. Are most men terrorists? What if the guys on here were avoided by women because they might be terrorists? Found it difficult to get jobs because they might be terrorists? Easy to brush it off for a day, but try living like it for 30 years.

People who think those involved should get over it, tend not to be in the group who have been wronged. I tried to think of a decent non-religion example of the treatment of a group of people (e.g. how women are treated), but I couldn't think of one.

To me it's as simple as terrorists use these words quite frequently in recent times, in a mock attack why not include it. Whatever the police are doing is trying to mimmick an attack that's it.

No sane person has an anti muslim/islam agenda and knows that just like Christians 99.9% of them are just people trying to get on with their lives.

In a country so liberal and accepting, the seriousness of the muslim faith is definitely not understood, Muslims think they are entitled for it to be? but are they or do they need to lighten up? I can imagine the Muslim guys above getting angry or frustrated at me for having the nerve to say they should lighten up but it is in my opinion this level of attachment/seriousness to their faith that creates problems in our culture.

I've not seen anything that suggest that anyone has said all Muslims are terrorists. But, at the terrorists that we are currently preparing for, and fighting, are Muslims.

Do you think we should be practicing for a terror attack by fundamentalist Stalinists? Or fascists?

We prepare for the threats we face, and Islamists are that threat.

Perhaps instead of trying to attack the security services that protect us 24/7 from such attacks, people who find this insulting should take their grievances up with the terrorists who shout that phrase? Like the one who attacked innocent Germans just the other day.

Ok fine agreed, your saying lightening up, its PEOPLE that need to lighten up towards Muslims, this is my point buddy! everyone is so defenceful and worried around muslims its why we are being put on the back foot, thats why this drill that has been done has again but muslims on the back foot and sparked fear into the general public against muslims. this is the point im trying to make.......

good post, and points made.

Today a "car friend" unfriended me on FB (big loss NOT)

He posted a picture of a prayer room at Manchester airport and was shocked at the fact there was one there (taking over the country etc), his FB comment replies seemed to be the silly posts you would see from most Britain first's members.

Anyway I posted a picture from the Manchester airport website showing that they had prayer rooms for Christians and Jewish people. Kinda went off on him and gave him the option to unfriend me if he didnt like what I said. Its uneducated ***** like him which unfortunately alot on here are the same that make my blood boil, but most folk on here will never know what it feels like because you are not Muslims.

Highlighted above is exactly what im trying to point out which is wrong in the society thanks to the media and propoganda, im not having a dig or being rude to you buddy, i really like you and respect as you well kno, you have helped me so much in my car related issues, i just want you to break down what you said and see how your mind has been screwed over to believe something that isnt true, you un-intentionally have said things which are so wrong and far from the truth, tell me what you think after my analysis because I am very interested to hear your response.

So people are getting insulted over their invisible sky fairy being referenced incorrectly by mock terrorists, pretending to be sky fairy believers, who actually probably believe in another sort of sky fairy altogether.

This is some meta level stuff, please let the abstraction continue.

Just to be clear, I use the term 'Islamism' bu its true definition:

"Islamism, also known as Political Islam (Arabic: إسلام سياسي‎ islām siyāsī), is an Islamic revival movement often characterized by moral conservatism, literalism, and the attempt "to implement Islamic values in all spheres of life."

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamism

Most Muslims aren't Islamists. Islamism it the political form of Islam, which seeks to inflict the harshest interpretations of Islam onto people through politics and rule of law. Islamic terrorists are Islamists.

So when I say 'Islamists', I am not referring to Muslims on the whole. Much like when people say 'Zionist', they aren't referring to all Jews.

Hopefully you can see this distinction, and that my post wasn't meant to cause any offence :)

Exactly that, before hating on a muslim or labelling them, think of the ones around you then hate, so many of your good friends are muslim, you just dont know it, your neighbours etc. stop allowing somebody else ie. media, put things into your head, make your own minds up, dont watch the news and say 'right its gospel', come on see past the bullsh*t to the truth. before it was al-qaeda, then taliban, then isis, then its guna be someone else and else and else until the middle east has no more natural resources left, then the war will go to china and korea as the fight over global resources continues.

Well it may create fear in those of the hard of thinking, but the vast majority of us are not in fear or against Muslims as a whole, I mean the new mayor of our capital city is a Muslim is he not, voted in by millions of all sorts of people, with no anti muslim campaign or post election furore?

its quite simple rather than going into huge break downs. TERRORITS have no religion, they use fronts, unfortunately the front at the moment is Islam. if everyone gets this into their heads a lot of problems will be resolved.

Honestly if many people from here visit Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq etc. go there and see the devastation the West has created there, I have been for religious pilgrimages all over these countries and trust me every thought in your mind will disappear, your humanity side will take over and as grown men fuelled by 100 octane fuel in your veins, you will cry, you will break down and honestly you will change.
