millar11
Just looking to check Wot tyres size would be the best for my wheels which are 18 x 8.5 et 30 (front) , 18 x 9.5 et 35 (rear) I take it 235/40/18 for front? And 265/35/18 for the rear would be ok? Also if anybody recommends any that would be great. Not looking to break the bank but certainly don't want to be budget ones. Thanks Millar
MattP
I run 235/40/18 and 255/35/18 with cheap Nankang NS2 sports on a BPU VVTI AUTO with no traction issues at all since 2013 however I also never use the car in the wet....

Thanks Millar I'm pretty sure you can get Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres in those sizes. They're the best tyre for road use and outright dry grip, IMO. If you want slightly less dry grip but much better wet/damp performance then the Michelin Pilot Super Sports.
ianhid
I run 235/40R18 front on 8.5 ET35 and 265/35R18 9.5 ET38 with Goodyear Eagle F1 Asy 2's all year round. No problems in the dry with a BPU auto, drop the boost a bit if it's pissing down with rain and cold (under 7c). I drive mine all year round except for snow with no real problems. You can get them for about £130-140 per rear and £120 for a front online.
millar11
Cool. Thanks. So I'm ok to put a 265 tyre on though?
88LE
Yes 265 is fine. Pretty sure a 275 is ok too. I run 285's on mine with a 10" wheel. No rubbing whatsoever

johnny g
Yes 265 is fine. Pretty sure a 275 is ok too. I run 285's on mine with a 10" wheel. No rubbing whatsoever I ran 285/30 on my 18 wheel, but the car felt skittish due to hardly any sidewall. I went to 275/35 and also tried 265/40. Car felt the most compliant on the 265 but was also good on the 275. With the Supra, you have to have a decent amount of sidewall because of the suspension design. millar11
Cheers again guys. Was looking at Goodyear eagle f1 asymetric 3s? Or Michelin pilot sport 3s?
MattP
Eagle F1s are sublime as a road tyre however the pilot sports are supposedly superior in dry conditions.. Honestly it's all about the Nankangs just don't use your accelerator That JohnnyG bloke probably drives a Lada just ignore him.

Yeah the michelins are slightly more expensive but they both get wet rating of 'A'. The goodyears fuel efficiency rating is C compared michelins 'E' so swaying towards the eagle f1s.
