Can't shift out of park

PROBLEM SOLVED

Looks like I'm not having a lot of luck with the new car. I had driven the car less than an hour before this happened so I'm not sure whats gone wrong.

As the title says, I can't shift out of park. My brakes/brake lights are working. I believe I need to start checking the fuses but honestly don't know where to start. Any help would be appreciated as I need to move the car asap.

I've checked the fuses in the engine bay and they all seem to be in order. I've read that I should be able to find more through an access panel in the driver side footwell but I can't find it.

I should point out that this is my first automatic car, so this is the first I'm hearing of a shift lock button. Just been out to have a look but it's a little bit too dark now and I have no torches. I'll give it another quick go before I walk to work in the morning.

The shift lock button is the black one you'll use your thumb to push in at the top of the gear shift knob, see pic:

Sure you havent got a little red button as pictured?

I do not have that red button. It's just a little black square.

I went back out to the car and stuck my finger down the shifter and now it's working again. Don't know what I did but hey, it worked. Thanks for the replies guys, very much appreciated.

The lack of a red button is kind of odd, could it be because it's a UK spec?

EDIT: No, It's not a triptonic.

Just so you know, my UK TT doesnt have the red button either, so you're not missing anything important!
