MGB
Hi everyone! My UK 93 6sd has a problem. The boot mounted brake light is not working. I have stripped it down and found no wires attached to the unit and no LEDs inside! There seems to be no signs of tampering either? My local Toyota dealer says it should work but are listing 2 but apparently these are the same. Please help.
Mark Ayling
Hi, I know that these weren't wired up on all UK Supras - a couple of people I know had to get them wired in themselves...
Sharpie
I *think* it was standard from 94 onwards that LED's were in ?
MGB
Thanx for that info guys! Any ideas about how to wire one up & can I install LEDs in the existing unit. Toyota want £117.00 plus VAT for the unit. P.S. there is a connector in the middle of the boot lid but no power to this. Is this the connector which would be normaly used but would require connecting to the brake lights wiring? ___________________________ 93 UK TT 6sp Std 89 UK Auto Super Chip Decat & Custom Stainless Exhaust

Yep - as I understand it the wiring is there but it doesn't go through the car to the main loom, so (I assume) you would just connect it to the brake lights...? Jez sutherland
MGB, Please let me know how you get on with this - I've got a 94 UK TT with the same problem and would like to get it sorted out. The thing I'm a bit unsure about is the wiring - an 'idiots guide' would be really useful as I don't want to blow the car up! Anyone got any ideas where the wiring to the LEDs ends if it doesn't hook up to the main loom? Cheers, Jeremy
MGB
No luck in sourcing the boot mounted brake light yet with LEDs in it! So can't post any details on how to wire. My MkiV is red. My MkIII is black

Steve W
I could be talkin' complete ARSE (I usually do !), but, I vaguely remember LED brake lights being 'NOT legal' before a certain year ? ? (over HERE that is) [i remember seeing 'em years ago as 'add-on' ones for M'Bikes in the catalogues, but saying "not for road use"] I can't see any other reason why Toyota would leave 'em out It wouldn't be to save a few pennies, and it's MORE hassle to have 'different' lights than the same as Jap' ! ! ? ? ? ? ? ? Jez sutherland
Martin, I did a search on this a couple of months ago - only came up with a couple of posts, but nothing of direct help. So - it's not that I didn't search - do you think maybe that the button is broken somehow? Jeremy
