azam
My next door neighbour (Carbon) Carl used to be a composites guy at McLaren, now he's gone solo doing high end carbon tub and bodywork repairs. He said they drove you hard Should be a great place to be though, as a younger man. All the best with it! Thanks Chris, hope all goes well myself. I think I need to brush up on my skills before starting then if they do drive you hard lol.

Does the JR12s fit the Ukspec Front Calipers in 9x18 ET25? Or do you need spacers ? Thanks

Thanks No they do not fit over the uk spec callipers and the ofsets are weird on them. So they already stuck out slightly so putting spacers on the car would make it look funny. I have put j specs on the front as a temp I till I get some k sports as they have more clearance then the uk spec callipers.

Not yet I haven't really had time to have a look at the car I've just finished uni so still recovering from the exam period lol. But I have had the wheels Balanced again from the same place, and the is still shaking in the steering. A good old friend of mine said he will look at the car for me properly as he was once owned a supra about 10 years ago and knows his stuff. He is saying ball joints of the subframe may have loosened because I get a slight clunk noise when braking. I have checked the pads and discs they all look fine and there is no movement there. azam
UPDATE: So I finally had time to have a clear look at the car and found the passenger side lower control arm ball joint leaking grease as well as the track rod ends and the drop links worn out. I have now changed both side lower control arms and the drop links and the inner and outer track rod ends. The difference it has made is amazing, the steering feels a lot more responsive. Still need to get the geometry set up, wheels balanced properly and also get the fit new brakes.
Dnk
Very surprised it drove fine on the stock rims if the problem was down to worn out ball joints etc but good news if you've fixed it

Chris Wilson
Not got time to go back through the thread, but do you understand gyroscopic precession, I may have mentioned it before? if not Google it and bear it in mind if the shake returns..... Yes I do understand. Are the supra arms adjustable. I had my tracking done recently and was told the camber and caster is not adjustable. The passenger front wheel needs a bit of camber. I was told the only way to solve this is by getting adjustable arms. Is this correct?
Dnk
I 'd go somewhere else as they obviously haven't got a clue, caster, camber and toe is adjustable on the front, camber and toe is adjustable on the rear Edited June 11, 2016 by Dnk (see edit history)

I'd take it somewhere else.
Dnk
I used this place a while ago and he totally fucked up my Landcruiser, he told me it had been in a heavy front shunt hence he couldn't get it within tolerance, it drove fine before I went there and only wanted it setting up as we fitted new lower arms It was a mile out after I let him touch it and almost undrivable Edited June 11, 2016 by Dnk (see edit history)
azam
So I rang them and told them that the camber and caster can be adjusted and they said that because I have put a new lower control arm the old one was probably warped to suit the camber. And the new one is straight. With the camber he first said he can't be adjusted then he said with a washer out it still isn't enough. And on top of that I don't think it was tracked with the steering straight. I need to hold the steering about 20 degrees to the right for the car to go straight. Dnk
Please go somewhere else, he is a total idiot, god knows how he is still in business. I used a Formula One centre in Redditch to sort my cruiser out and it was spot on after they did it
Annabella
Anyone know of anybody to do setup in the north-west, that has more of a clue than where Azam has been? Could always have a trip down to CW but bit of a distance.
Dnk
On the front these are the eccentric adjusters, you undo the nut and rotate the bolt, the biggest problem with old arms is the adjuster bolt seizes up inside the bush and can be impossible to turn, you then need to cut the bolts off and replace the bolt and the whole arm or fit polybushes
azam
The reason I went to this place was because they are apparently specialist in 4 wheel alignment. They recently done a fast road setup for a e46 and he said it seems perfect. And due to the fact they use the systems that mount on the alloy rim rather then over the wheel, as my car is lowered I am now thinking of raising it up a tad. Could always have a trip down to CW but bit of a distance. Most of us West Midlands lot, Littlenum, Bignum, TrickTT, have been going to Chemix for many years. Most of us have our own custom settings stored on their system that we've tweaked over the years. Simon is your man to see there, what he doesn't know about alignment isn't worth knowing. He will adjust the standard settings to suit your ride height and suspension setup if you require https://www.protyre.co.uk/tyre-centres/chemix-stourbridge.aspx

Chriss
interesting topic, I had JR3 wheels on my chaser and had the same problem with a shake at 60mph, I know someone else with JR wheels who also had the same issue. I got my wheels re-balanced twice and it did not fix anything, I went back to the wheels I had on before and I changed the front brake-discs and there is no shake at all now. Maybe the wheels are the problem, I will know more soon as I still have the wheels and plan to put them on my Supra.

azam
So today I changed my front wheels back to stock and I got zero vibration in the steering wheel. No shake at all. Before I had done any suspension work I could feel it slightly at about 80mph. But now I feel nothing. The alignment feels a mess and feels like it's all over the place.
