Facelift Headlight Pic Request

Hey all. Bit if an odd request.

 

Has anyone got a few pics of a face lift headlight from the rear.

 

Reason I ask is i fixed my headlight from misting up and its been fine for weeks.

I had my car back from some work being done on my front bumper (meaning they had to remove the headlights)

And the day I collect it its mists up terriabley so I wanted to check if all breather pipes are there ect..

Il sort this for you today il take mine out while the cars in bits ..

Right then from what I can see you should have the following:

 

6 clips in total around the outer edge (goldish coloured things) 3 up top 3 on the bottom.

 

And 3 rubber vents all 3 are next to each other.

 

 

Both lights have the same amount of vents/clips.

Change in weather might have something to do with it Paul, could be just a coincidence. Also worth checking to make sure the sponge/foam is still intact in the breather pipes, and whether the bulb holders have been seated properly/twisted in fully.

Ok Jim will get them out, If they have worn/gone do you think If I cut up an old wash sponge in the same circular size as the breather pipe and place it in it should make a good replacement?

 

Bulbs are sealed nice with silicone sealant also

Yep a cut up sponge should do the job bud, I did it with mine when they went brittle.

These are the 3 vents

 

In those pictures you're actually missing an additional rubber right angled piece that sits over the hole directly under the fog light. It should also have a piece of plastic that looks like a K&N cone inside it too.

 

Also, not all facelift headlights came with the large boxier rubber fitting that sits on the top between the dipped and high beams. Some lights came with a clear plastic cap that covered that particular hole.

Sad face I have never had moisture in the lights though I have had it since 2013 no problems

I don't think that any of the rubbers are really essential. I think moisture in the lights is one of those things. If it happens it happens. I have a set which were on the car for over a year without any problems, took them off to split them but ended up putting them back on untouched.. and that first night the insides were covered with condensation. The worst part is the lights have already been split but they were re sealed with a non-heat reactive sealant so I'm going to have to cut it all off to get them open to wipe off the water marks that were left when they dried out.

These still look like new from the front I machine polish them yearly.
