ianhid
I'd be very happy to be that with it come 90... Quite happy with the monarchy in general, they're a (currently) harmless quirk and part of what makes Britain different from the rest. They're also really good for tourism income, which is handy. jamesmark
Our undemocratic, expensive and unelected monarch doesn't meddle in our political affairs or push laws that don't fit this country. You can start complaining when Charles comes in and tries to leverage politicians about homeopathy and organic farming. I'm more than happy about having someone possessing some intelligence above the government to stop them getting out of hand, unelected makes it even better because they don't have to be short sighted populists to stay in power like our current Dear Leader Cameron. You do know the Queen or any Monarch for that matter (including any future King or Queen) has absolutely zero say in anything to do with this country. They never ever will. Even the going to war or accepting of a new PM etc is all just a custom and is for show.
Annabella
You never know she might make an exception if (and he won't) Jeremy got in.
mwilkinson
I'm all for the Monarchy. Long live the Queen; and I hope she had a great Birthday.
Chris Wilson
Odd how so many people on this forum want to be out of undemocratic, expensive and unelected Europe, yet are quite happy to pay homage to an undemocratic, expensive and unelected monarchy. Possibly because the monarchy has history and class, the EU wants to have class, and history, but has neither? On a purely economic level the monarchy has made a huge amount of money for the UK, the EU has attempted to emulate the monarchy with its posturing, posing and self aggrandisement, but is sadly woefully lacking in history, substance, style, long term financial clout and future. jamesmark
Possibly because the monarchy has history and class What complete and utter rubbish, there are many articles/documentaries/news stories/scandals that are well documented over the years/decades that quite clearly show they have no class. But wait she carries her self well in public, shakes a few hands on the odd occasion (more outside the UK than her own subjects) and she brings in cash, ah it is alright then. If that is the definition of class, peoples standards must be very low.
Chris Wilson
She's got a lot more class than the people I usually booze with
JasonR24
Each to their own but I prefer not to worship anything at all, especially another human being. Not to mention give praise where no praise is due, simply because a baby fell out a specific vagina. May as well wish my first turd a happy birthday.
