Accusump kit

Chris Wilson

Recommended Posts

Large capacity Accusump kit. Protects the engine against oil surge when cornering or during drag racing or even drifting. Mechanical type, no solenoid valve to go wrong. Just fit an Ebay fire extinguisher or bonnet release cable and pull knob in the car and attach to the lever valve. Will pre prime the engine and turbo(s) for far less wear on cold starts, as well as keep a large reservoir of pressurised oil ready for the moments the stock wet sump is sucking air. Good condition, some marks, gauge doesn't fully zero, but is operational, it is only to show if it's pressurised. T into an oil cooler line, it's fitted with a new -12 hose fitting, can go to -10 at the cooler if you wish. £170 with £6.80 insured P&P to a UK post code.

Me please Chris.

Just let me know what you need to post it to the Republic of Ireland and I'll send on the full amount in a day or two. (need to attend a funeral tomorrow)

I'll email you a delivery address as well when I get the chance.

I take it the cable is used to close a valve at the end of a run to hold a charge of oil in the canister and then you simply open the valve just prior to starting the engine again to introduce pressurised oil to the vitals?

BTW Damien, it will be £6.80 to post insured to N. Ireland, and a lot more to the Republic, have you any means of grabbing it from someone in NI?

Yeah, lovely state of affairs, isn't it?

Can't say that I know anyone north of the divide that I could use so I'll have to stump up the extra for the postage.

€3.50 to get it delivered from N. Ireland?

Is that directly to me or to a pick-up point?

Yes , Parcel motel near you but I think for a few euro more its to the door; I use it all the time and get my Items shipped to NI with uk free shipping then 3.50 euro to the local Parcel motel, 3 of them are within 2-5mins drive

There's only a "return line" in dry sump systems, the return in a wet sump is via the bearing clearances and the oil pressure relief valve :)

The oil cooler sees main gallery oil pressure. I will link to the fitting instructions once I remember what file name I gave them!

I know what you mean now Chris, and where I was getting muddled. I was thinking of the hydraulic oil systems used on forklifts and such, the oil is either used or returned to the tank through the valve chest, one side the working pressure is a few thousand psi, the other side is held together with Jubilee clips! But the oil in those systems is always filtered on the return to the tank.

The oil in an engine is returned to the sump after floating the shafts, so the only side the filter and cooler can be is the pressure side.

But do you think a non-return valve is needed or will the oil pump restrict back-flow anyway?

Accusump arrived this morning Chris.

That is one big ass failsafe!

Between this, the oil cooler and a big filter I'll be carrying more oil than the Exxon Valdez. Before it sprung the leak obviously.

And thanks for your email clearing up the question about the non-return valve, I should've realised that if one was needed you'd have said so to begin with.

A big engine needs a LOT of oil if the sump can no longer supply it. That reservoir will probably last a few seconds at best on a running engine. The end pipe fitting is new, check i have sealed it properly and not just screwed it on by hand! Thanks for the purchase, have fun!
