Hey I'm on with building my Na-t set up I'm running a hx40 turbo on my 2jz ge. What do people do for inlets? Can you run the 2jz gte inlets or is it a custom built inlet?

Turbo sits too high for the over the top inlet but also think it looks so much better having a forward facing inlet. Just looking weather I can modify a stock twin turbo intake manifold or look into getting a manifold custom built.

Thank you

You can mod a twin turbo inlet to make it fit but it requires quite some work, it won't just bolt up unfortunately.

Some people run a reducer coupler to 2.5" out of the NA intake so that it clears the turbo. I have a 3" pipe that's been re-shaped into an oval so it clears the oil line to the turbo.

There are companies that make NA intakes but they are mostly either in the US or Australia :(

Modifying a TT inlet or making your own, are both a ball ache. The cheapest options though however.

Buying an intake would probably mean the inside is cast finish, which isn't the best for flowing. See if you can purchase an intake which has trumpets.

Requirements to install a FFIM on a GE is as follows;

Relocate battery

Relocate power steering res

Adapter fitting from power steering pump (TT fitting £65, 90° billet fitting £85'ish) - some intakes may require a 90° fitting (my TT fitting ended up hitting)

Throttle body flange to be welded onto intake (OEM or aftermarket, unlikely intake will have this supplied) - though a good opportunity to upgrade

Extended throttle body wire

New intake pipework - however not an issue if you haven't plumbed your intercooler yet

Re-designing your vacuum piping - not a major issue. But take your time reviewing what you need, and how the OEM system is piped

Tuning - it will run lean with higher flowing, even running non-turbo

Some people use a 2.5" reduced to run into the TB to clear the turbo. Personally, I just ran whatever sized pipework I wanted. I used 3" piping and had no issues.

600hp has been done using stock intake. It's easier for plugs and injectors, apart from that the vacuum system will be unreachable.

It's an expensive mod, if I knew the hassle required I probably wouldn't have done it.
