Dnk
Anyone been up in a Spitfire ? We're off to Biggin Hill at the end of May, instead of having a 50th birthday bash my sisters going up in the two seater for half an hour.
mwilkinson
I always thought you couldn't pay for a flight in a Spitfire as it is still classed by the CAA as a fighter and not a passenger aircraft. No doubt you pay a fee and become a trustee of the aircraft and are therefore entitled to privileges? ? In any event I'm jelous and would love to fly in one of these , a Dehavilland Mosquito or a Lancaster.
j_jza80
The rules changed, just over a year ago IIRC. Going to do it myself at dome point, but a few £k for 30 mins is a pretty hard pill to swallow
Dnk
http://www.flyaspitfire.com/ Prices start from £2750 which isn't cheap but what an experience, i'm very tempted to do one myself. Apparently if the pilot feels your up to it you can take control for a few seconds and includes if you can cope with it a victory roll over the airfield
j_jza80
Will probably save my pennies for a Mosquito flight instead http://www.flyaspitfire.com/d-h-98-mosquito/

Dnk
At the pilots discretion you can take control for a short period and if your up for it a victory roll along with the usual manouvers
Tricky-Ricky
Hope its a great day, have some fond memories of Biggin Hill, as I used to live just down the road at Leaves Green, which is literally at the end of the runway, spent many a childhood day sat at the end of the runway watching various planes, especially practice runs for the many air shows that used to be staged there. Dnk
Was a great day at Biggin Hill, well worth going just to walk around the hanger and chat to the guys that work there. I'll post up some photos later when I get them off the camera and some video footage hopefully including a Victory roll
