Supra stalling after installing Walbro 485.....HELP! :)

Hey guys,

Just installed a new walbro 485 in tank pump and put everything back together, not getting any fuel leaks.

But the car starts and idles fine for 5 seconds, then gets lumpy and idle drops and it stalls. But it will immediately start once again and run perfect for 5 seconds until the same thing repeats.

Anyone experienced similar or knows that to do please? Thanks.

Would it be worth using a fused relay for this job?

Or does it not matter as its fused at the box anyway?

Not sure to be honest Mate, i'll just follow what it advises in that thread i posted.

Glad it's elk sorted mate. When does your gauge arrive?

Arrived this morning buddy :D

Sorry if you didn't see or understand the question I was asking.

I was just interested in what fuel pump you removed, due to the fuel dropping off top end?

Was it a stock tt pump or a uprated Walbro 255.

Ahh sorry mate i did misunderstand or misread, it was a stock tt pump.

I had everything else for bpu but i read in several threads that fuel pump was optional while doing this. And as i knew i woukd be going single i didnt want a 255 walbro only to change it again so i left it.

Turns out a fuel pump certainly isn't optional!

Sometimes you get away with it and the pump will run from the stock fuel pump ecu, sometimes you need to wire up a relay which is triggered by the fuel pump ecu. Good time to run a new 30amp fused feed from the fuse box for your new pump :)

Sounds like you've done this before :D

Yes. A few of the Evo owners got their hands on a bad batch which seized up.

Ensure they are genuine when purchasing. I run the same pump as this now too.

How can you know for sure if it's genuine? The company i bought it from says on their website they guarantee it is as they order direct from USA but who knows i guess.
