Richie_k83
I'm sure it has been asked before, but i am looking into going manual ready for when my ITB project is nearing completion, However, do people think it would just be easier to sell the car i have and buy a manual? In a pickle as to what to do.... I have spent a good chunk of money on my car, so to jump ship would mean i have to do it all again, unless i work at putting her back to standard. To convert it to manual seems like a good idea, until i start looking for parts, seem to be getting harder and harder to find... I dunno, what so people think? Josh42
It took me 8hrs to convert my car from auto to W58 on a ramp. Including changing the tunnel and diff. Parts required from memory are: W58 box Clutch Flywheel Propshaft Diff Clutch line - hard line + flexi Manual brake pedal clutch pedal Clutch master cylinder Clutch slave cylinder Flywheel bolts Clutch bolts Bell housing bolts Shifter + rubbers Shifter surround panel Gearknob Gear gaitor Manual Rev counter Manual ECU (optional) Manual transmission tunnel I think that's it from the top of my head. Richie_k83
I know whats involved to get it manual, just unsure whats best lol Can you use an Auto ecu still then? (As you put optional) Edited April 11, 2016 by Richie_k83 (see edit history)
ashloys
I'd say do it. It would kill me needing to start over again with another car! Also a W58 won't take too long to fit and still reasonably priced. I'll have a W58 propshaft for sale soon too probs!

You have PM: I think the OP has already bought a W58 from someone else (please correct me if I'm wrong).

Richie_k83
Well that escalated quickly, went from wondering to buying a box and prop in the space of a few hours lol.
Richie_k83
Do i have to get a manual ECU? Or is there something i can do with the auto one to keep it fitted?
stevie_b
I've got a feeling the auto ECU is fine with a manual gearbox. Best confirm this though.
Richie_k83
I think it might, if it works and the clocks do too, then i prob wont bother to change them for the manual ones
