electric aerial

I know there's probably loads of threads on this but I dont want to trawl through them all...

So my electric aerial has stopped working...it's stuck in the fully up position...the motor is still turning when I turn the ignition on and off but nothing's happening even if I try and push it down...I replaced a part in my gt4 years ago that sorted that car out but it seems to be a different set up on the supra...do I need to replace the whole unit or is there a common tthing that goes I can replace. Thanks

Sounds like the nylon toothed cord of the aerial mast has broken inside the motor mechanism. You'll need to remove the aerial assembly and unscrew the plastic cover to get at the broken section of the cord inside before fitting a new aerial mast.

So it's only themast I need to buy so..perfect...I was almost going to Toyota to order the whole assembly today..lucky I didn't get the chance. Thanks

If you can hear the motor working then it's most likely the toothed cord has broken inside like in pics below, before buying a new mast remove the cover and check, hopefully the teeth on the drive gear inside haven't been stripped.
