peter richards
ive had the car yonks mate and its never been changed so thought it might need doing
mellonman
If its been years then I would do it regardless bpu or even stock as the viscosity of the oil will change over the many heat cycles it sees, its not a bad thing but if you have more power then stock I would recommend using race trans fluid, Have a look a david p trans group very informative http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/group.php?groupid=

Frank Bullitt
IIRC it's best to stick with Toyota fluid for the box, if you drop DavidP a pm he will be able to confirm one way or another

David P
Can be found in U.K. at around £14.50 per litre plus P&P. It's as cheap as chips in the States, but many Traders won't ship it. This would be the cheapest option, pay the shipping separately and avoid paying VAT on it and then get 1/3 of your money back selling on the 4 litres you won't need. http://www.ebay.com/itm/12-Pack-GENUINE-TOYOTA-T-IV-Synthetic-Automatic-Transmission-Fluid-ATF-TIV-Lexus-/351600190026?fits=Make%3AToyota Or trust Opie Oil to sell you some decent Dexron III. Either/or, add a bottle of Lucas SS. How to partial and/or full flush your transmission here. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/group.php?discussionid=188&do=discuss Mellonman has already informed you that anything else you may need/want to know will be found in my signature link. David P
Mannol is a bargain bucket brand that appears to manufacture more variations of ATF than any of the Large Oil Companies. I also notice that they market a "Universal ATF" and suspect that's what is in all the bottles, regardless of what it say's on the tin. Shane
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Carlube-ATF-U-ATF-U-Automatic-Transmission-Fluid-Fluid-4-55L-FULLY-SYNTETHIC-/121347314407?hash=item1c40dd12e7:g:fmUAAMXQs6FRMgUi http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CARLUBE-ATF-U-MERCON-V-SP-AUTOMATIC-TRANSMISSION-FULLY-SYNTHETIC-FLUID-4-5LTR-/391421058746?hash=item5b22835eba:g:WBQAAOxygPtS88SV Claims to be Type iv equivalent and I have used this with no problems so far, I normally change it after a couple of sessions at SP. I use this, its available from GSF over the counter and if you sign up to their newsletters they have discount weekends regular, think since Christmas they have had 3 or 4 with 40% discount codes. So how are you going to use your pump to empty it completely? I am a bit confused by that. The torque converter holds a lot that will need draining, with the sump only holding some of the full amount quoted.
David P
It's a damn sight easier to undo the drain plug than to dick about with a pump and which allows inspection of what comes out. If you're that worried by a 14mm spanner, pump out 2 litres and refill, then run engine for a few seconds, pump out 2 litres and refill. Wear gloves and do this 5 times with your 10 litres and without touching a spanner or getting your hands dirty, you will have changed around 3/4 of the fluid and avoided seeing any scary things underneath your Supra. I have updated the "Fluid Strainers, ATF & Lucas SS at Good Prices" thread in the Transmission Group, ready for the next time this comes around. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/group.php?discussionid=128&do=discuss Edited April 12, 2016 by David P (see edit history)
