MaveriK
Greetings All, This is a new one on me, I am fitting the Shadow Rock to the Z170 motherboard but CPU chassis screws are causing an issue. One of the three screws that hold the CPU plate in place is sitting too proud for the heat sync back plate to sit correctly and thus the four screws to hold the cooler don't reach through. I was about to take the Dremmel to the screw that is causing the fault but cant believe I am having to in this day and age. Anyone come across anything like this before? Annabella
Hi I dont quite follow what you mean by cpu chassis screw? Have you looked at a couple of youtube install vids to see if theres another way?
MaveriK
A picture speaks a thousand words, the 3 screws that hold the CPU in place. The single screw sits 2mm prouder than the pair at the back.
bonus_2000
I think that the front screw sits proud of the board to allow the socket clamp to slide underneath mate, when you install the CPU. I don't think you need to remove the screw/tighten the screw at all.
Annabella
Wow thats a fecker isn't it! Can you not drill a hole through the backplate instead? Does the kit not come with different plates can one be modified?

Ah get you now. Is it a standard intel OEM heat sink being used? My mate installed this exact board about 2 weeks ago and had no issues at all. This was using a boxed OEM i5 CPU which obviously comes with the Intel cooler. Maybe if it is an aftermarket cooler the clearance is different? Ah, ok, maybe that is what a "Be Quiet Shadow Rock 2" is...

MaveriK
Some fool, not myself of course, had slipped the bolts into the wrong holes, I gave said fool a good talking to and I promised to pull my socks up, err, no, he did. Move along, nothing to see here.
