Fault codes at last

Good moaning all.

Been having some trouble for some time now. Car wouldn't start, when it did it was idling fine, but as soon as touching the pedal, it coughed, spluttered and farted until it cut out. I found the ignition coil was weak and sparked as and when it wanted, no engine light came on at all.

So, replaced it this week, still not solved the problem. But, two codes finally came up.

These are 12 and 24, I've looked them up (not that they make much sense to someone with no mechanical experience at all, unless mechano as a kid counts),

Just wondering if what these codes are pointing to would be the cause and need replacing?

Cheers guys

So not camshaft sensor?

Also, in the 3 or 4 years of ownership of the car, it has had q cone fitted in place of the stock box by previous owner. The air temperature sensor has never been plugged in, it's just sitting there in the bay. And never caused an issue, but saying that, I think it would be wise to go back to a stock one

So, received my distributor, changed that, ignition coil, changed that. Car started, drove fine for a mile, turned around, pulled up at home, problem started again, struggling to start, struggling to reach 2k Revs. engine light wile driving was intermittent. So I'm guessing it's still going to be the crankshaft sensor.

Can someone let me know the correct part number for this please as I've had at least 3 different ones. I also read GM use the same one using a different part number. Many thanks

If you're not sure of the part number, you could phone a Toyota dealer (or Steve Manley) with your chassis number. They'll be able to tell you the part number.

As David posted it's integral to the distributor and not a separate small cable and plug one like the TT, I'll try and look up code 12 in the workshop manual later...

Thanks pal, I just went out again to start the car, it's just turning but not starting again now.

I did read there was no crankshaft sensor under the block so that also confused me.

These are what I've found on the ge, but this says there is a crankshaft sensor

Those manuals were written for US spec supra's so it is possible that US na's have a crankposition sensor as illustrated above. but I can say with certainty that the jspec na's do not have one there.
