Jellybean
Why do mechanics replace the Idle air intake hose with a Air filter?
Swampy442
Because is a vacuum feed straight into the intake manifold, normally the pipework leads round to the intake side, which is clean, filtered air. If t was open it would just suck lots of crap in.
Jellybean
Sorry , What I mean is why get rid of the intake feed pipe and use a filter instead? I was thinking if it was something adding to the headache you saw in the other thread with the 264 cams and Idle
Swampy442
No idea, single turbo set up would get rid of all the intake pipework, thats the only reason I can think of. You could still run a pipe round to the intake if you wanted to, but a filter on there is easier
