Sheefa
Hi all I've now removed my brake discs and pads ready for the new ones. I had purchased a brake Caliper piston rewind tool but it's far to big I think to access the Pistons and given I'm not going to split the Calipers in half how on earth do you push the Pistons back in? Assume I need to open up the cap on master brake cylinder to release some pressure? Help. Thanks Greg
Dnk
Just put a pry bar or similar against the piston face and gently apply pressure leavering off the disc, it shouldn't take too much pressure to ease the pistons in. Pop the cap off the reservoir Edited March 27, 2016 by Dnk (see edit history)
Sheefa
Ahh thanks Dunk. I'll use the piston rewind metal plate and apply leverage to that with a bar. Thanks.
Dnk
Yep you can protect the piston and outer seal with a thin piece of wood or metal
Sheefa
Ok so that didn't quite go to plan..... Unfortunately as you can see one of the piston rubber seals is quite badly corroded. The brakes were working fine but obviously this has to be replaced. I've been speaking to Glanza_Mike who's going to help me out if we can rebuild with seals etc. However, is there any way to get the Pistons out without an airline as per enclosed page from manual? I have removed the entire Caliper now. Help. Thanks Greg

Al Massey
Refit, place a bit of wood in between the Pistons and pump brake pedal.
Dnk
I didn't have the proper pliers but carefully used some pipe grips, wrapped some cloth around the very top part of the piston and rotated back and forth easing the piston out
Sheefa
Thanks gents. I thought reattaching Caliper and pumpkins would be best option. Cheers.
Glanza_Mike
How many pumpkins do you reckon we'll need mate?
Hammer
I've done this a number of times and you will need at least two pumpkins, three to be on the safe side. Be careful not to get the seeds behind the pistons though sorry couldn't resist hope you get it sorted
