tooquicktostop
An opportunity has come up for me to work as a director of food/executive chef for an oil company on and off shore, anyone got any real time experience on these at all, pros and cons
drift_bear
Depends on what sector you are working in tbh, I spent 4 years offshore and I know a few others on here work/worked offshore aswell, what do you want to know really dean? Some of the rigs I was on in the North Sea
tooquicktostop
I would be catering for the crew on the rig, initially cooking to get a feel for the business but the longer term role would be an operational director for several rigs on and off shore
drift_bear
I can put you in touch with someone via Facebook that's been in the hospitality side for the last few years if that's any use bud? I was on the production side so don't have much experience from the accommodation side

tony tt
Nice one Dean that's pretty good going considering the state of oil and gas in the uk just now. I've Been trying to get offshore for a while but there's no chance for new starts in the current climate. Good luck whatever you do mate. monsween
Offshore is a brilliant place to work. A word of warning however. Be prepared to miss birthdays, weddings, xmas, new year, etc, etc. Once you're on a rota (catering is generally 2 on 2 off, or 3 on 3 off as the climate is going) there is no exceptions.
