Girl pulling power is overrated, few women will be wowed by any sub 10k car. They just like ferraris and lambos and the money that comes with them.

I can see this one being contoversial :D

Exactly, anything with a high price tag/name will pull a girl in even if it look likes crap. Which most do.

If we all stick bugatti...lambo...ferrari badges on our Supras...hmmm :D

I disagree.

An xk8 Cabriolet can be had well under £10k, and they look like they cost much more

Wouldn't consider one without a warranty though.

I had considered everything in my comment. XK8 is a lot of car but only available as an auto and woefully unreliable.

Also limited for tunability without spending silly amounts. Trust me, I have looked at everything over the last few years and having some level of class, manual gearbox and getting over 350 - 400Hp on RWD leaves very few options, sub £30K, nevermind £10K.

Ok you have a £10K budget and there are no Supras, so what would you buy, criteria is performance, tuning potential, handling, quality of engineering,DIY possibilities, world wide petrol head status, stability at speed, aesthetics, girl pulling power.? Herbie.

Small single turbo RX-7 with a spare engine. As for girl pulling power, shouldn't you be being realistic like myself, and putting that nonsense aside and be thinking more in terms of a nice strong nurse to help you about? ;)

With regard to girl pulling power I don't think any car around this budget will suffice, even a supra. I'm 20 and single and have had literally 1 female genuinely interested in my cars, they want a fancy shiny new car or something with a huge price tag

I was specifically replying to the comment above mate :)

I really like the autobox in the XK, it isn't sporty, but then it isn't really supposed to be.

Absolutely spot on about reliability. As if the car gods didn't hate me enough (Supra issues, Corrado paint issues, dad's newly purchased classic SL) my dad has just today decided to buy an XK8 Cabriolet. No doubt muggins here will end up working on this new purchase.

On the plus side, I suppose at least I get to drive it without worrying about the running costs.

RX-7 - Err... how many engines do you want to buy?

Skyline GTR - show me one for £10K please?

Jag - would not buy anything before 2007

In the end I went for a Baby Beemer (Jag was an option - but do not feel that old yet!) 135i Convertible as I wanted a drop-top.

Standard 320Hp and easily tuned to nearly 400hp - with corresponding TQ - especially if the N54 engine.

I've always liked the look of the Peugeot RCZ too. Boring I know!

I saw one at a race meeting when they first came out and it was getting as much if not more, attention than a Ferrari 330GT parked near it. FWD though, couldn't be doing with that. If only it was mid engined.... Beautiful looking car that manages to look that bit different without being unaffordable! The two people that I know who own one have both had lots of minor issues that Peugeot took ages to fix though. It *IS* French so no surprise there ;)
