CASHEYE
Hey guys, Can anyone suggest a starting point in looking for a short with the indicator wiring. The other day I took the radio out of of the supra to put in my other car and I also took the headlights out to give them a clean. Today I went back and re fitted all the dash panels, connected everything back up and put a new set of headlights I'd made with the halo rings back in. I turned the engine on, switched all of the lights on and pushed in the hazard button and got out for a walk around to make sure everything was ok, but the indicators weren't flashing and the halo's weren't lit up. So I pulled the headlights out and I'd wired the halo lights up to the indicators instead of the side lights (in my haste I wrongly assumed the larger of the two bulbs on the side lights weren't the indicators). They still should have all worked but I got down into the footwell and the indicator fuse had blown. So I replaced that, wired the lights up correctly and tried again. The halos came on but the indicators didn't. I checked the fuse box under the bonnet and the hazard fuse had gone too... So I replaced that. Went back into the car and clicked the hazards on again and nothing, flicked the indicator stalk and still nothing. Checked both fuses and they were both blown again. I took the headlights out, unplugged the halo lights and then took all the dash panels out apart from the top cowl with the hazard button and replaced both fuses and tried again. And they still both blew. I've checked as much of the wires as I can see, and there are no exposed wires anywhere that could be creating a short, but am I missing another fuse that could be the cause of this? Thanks in advance for any help. Edited March 22, 2016 by CASHEYE (see edit history)
absz
Make sure the Hazard switch connector plug is still connected or you will have no hazards and indicators
CASHEYE
It was a screw for the drivers side rear speaker that was a bit too long and had gone through the mounting plate and into the cluster of wires for the rear lights. I pulled the tape off the wires and you can see the screw had cut into a few of them. I didn't originally have a screw in the bottom right of the plate but the other day I'd taken the speaker out to see about making up a speaker pod and put an extra one in there when I was putting it back together. I'll start gluing my hair back on now.
