KamaSupra
Seen these photos on Facebook, the photos were taken this week and are of the U.K scrapping scheme. Cars just sitting at an airfield in Bedfordshire, not allowed to be used for parts and all going to be crushed. Shame really, as there are some nice collectable motors in amongst this lot Update- A petition has now been set up to save them https://www.change.org/p/patrick-mcloughlin-save-the-classic-cars-from-he-scrappage-scheme?recruiter=251018746&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=copylink
Tyson
It's sad isn't it that a lot of those will be perfectly serviceable cars and they are just going to be crushed. They will be less polluting than what it will take to make a new car so really nothing is being achieved here apart from irradicating our motoring heritage. mc92
Very sad to see. Some of those cars are proper classics by the look of it, stuff I really wouldn't expect people to be scrapping. I'm sure some of these are worth more than the trade in price. Is that a Pontiac Firebird I spy in the 10th picture?

j_jza80
That Jaguar XJ-C and I'd bet it's sat next to a Daimler Double Six. And a nice little Alfa Spider.
j_jza80
Looking at various cars there, I'd say someone has been helping themselves to a few bits
charlton
Is that a Pontiac Firebird I spy in the 10th picture? Not sure what that is a few cars down but it looks like it's going to be worth a bit It's crazy that they can't be broken for parts to earn the government more money, petition maybe? rock on
And that's just one site. An old work mate bought a new T reg focus, had it for 10yrs,think it had less than 80,000 miles on it & traded it in under the scrappage scheme £2000, to buy an urban cruiser.. Some of the motoring journalists must of been in or at least attempted to get in.

Al Massey
Im still calling BS that bits are not taken off these cars, no way they just crush them Of course some bits are taken off. The government don't own these anymore, I bet they were either sold off or a contract was brought up for a company to deal with it
Kendo11
There's a petition going round FB at the moment to try to save the cars, up to a couple of thousand signatures. Can't link as I'm on different devices but worth finding and signing.
st3ven1
Full list of cars scrapped here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/car-scrappage-scheme-in-2009 Supras and skylines including a GT-R all scrapped. Sure this has been mentioned on here before though and there was a thread running. Lots of stuff that's now worth good money.
