pete.w
hi all, ive finally finished the head rebuild and turbo recon, runs sound but when i drive it hard and stop vehicle im getting smoke from around the exhaust manifold or rear turbo area (cant pin point it) all i can say is its around rear turbo towards the bulk head . seams like oil burning, ive replaced rocker gaskets too to eliminate that. any ideas please? np89
What turbo? What size is your oil feed? the seals in most large turbos are like piston rings, excess pressure will cause them to weep into the exhaust and smoke like you are describing

robby a
Turbo oil feed / return weeping? The same happened to me. It was weeping oil from the metal gasket on the turbo feed/return line which was dripping onto the exhaust causing the smoke
Chris Wilson
The same happened to me. It was weeping oil from the metal gasket on the turbo feed/return line which was dripping onto the exhaust causing the smoke The above sounds a very likely cause. Use new OE gaskets, fitted to dry clean surfaces. At least the rear one is a bit easier to do in situ than the front one.
