David P
the ratios are no good with the range of diff ratios available for the MKIV ebay is a font of Supra technical innovations. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Driveshaft-Shop-To9-M1-Conversion-Kit-fit-Toyota-Supra-94-14-6-Speed-Manual-/131095931575?hash=item1e85ed2ab7:g:TJoAAOSw8d9Uz4ko&vxp=mtr
Chris Wilson
This may save Chris from re-inventing the wheel? http://www.ebay.com/itm/TOYOTA-1JZ-2JZ-TO-T56-6-SPEED-CONVERSION-KIT-TREMEC-2jzgte-1jzgte-drift-supra-/261761815121 Or cheapskate option. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Custom-1JZ-2JZ-GTE-to-Tremec-T56-6sp-Gearbox-Adapter-/201421139116?hash=item2ee5a2acac:g:WnYAAOSwgQ9V6Z5F&vxp=mtr N/A auto bell-housings have just gone up in £value. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Engine-Transmission-Mounts-Swap-kit-for-86-89-Toyota-Supra-MK3-GM-LS1-LSx-T56-/331094068254?hash=item4d16be8c1e:g:fzoAAOxyVaBSu5er&vxp=mtr I think I would be for buying just the bellhousing, should they be willing to sell it seperately, and sourcing a known brand clutch and flywheel separately. But the options to get away from the Getrag seem to be out there. How much of a saving there'd be at the end of the day is probably debateable, although the torque handling figure for the T56 Super Magnum look impressive and FAR more than the OE 6 speed Getrag is rated at. So not just a replacement, a serious upgrade.

Supraleeturbo
I doubt Jacks would sell any parts, maybe if they start producing bits but tbh I could get that done in the UK Would just cost a lot of money I'm sure people would pay the extra to have it done here in the uk and by the time you factor in the cost of shipping and the time it takes to be done by jacks it would probably work out the same
Tyson
The closer to nil the better. I would simply describe it as minimal. Drive a new manual box... that's how much movement you should feel. What would cause excessive movement ?
j_jza80
What would cause excessive movement ? I'm not familiar with the V160 shifter setup, but on other cars it is quite often either the nylon pivot on the selector shaft, or the bushes on the gear linkages. Chris Wilson
Bushes shot on the linkage cradle, gear lever lower bush, or, worse case scenario something `orrible happened inside the box itself.
Swampy442
The obvious solution is :- Auto. Ooooohhhhhh

Would it make horrible noises if the box was causing it ?
Chris Wilson
Possibly not, but if a selector fork had come loose it could eventually decide to try and select 2 gears at once and lock solid.
Homer
The T-56 does fit in the Supra, but only JUST. From the measurements I received it only gives a few mm clearance on the rear part of the trans tunnel, but it should be workable with some small fabrication. The shifter position is around 5 cm shorter then the v16*. Not ideal for those that want the shifter where it's supposed to be. I spent far too much time looking into T-56 options when I was considering the alloy chevy v8 sway years ago - the amount of technical know how to make it work (and cost) put me off. Very, very capable box though, especially the more modern units mentioned above.
Chris Wilson
I think anyone going to the trouble and expense of a TREMEC should go for the stronger units, no point in spending all that doash on a `box that's till very marginal.
