alxns7
What else apart from the head cast is made out of aluminium in the 2JZ? I did an oil analysis recently and the results were interesting. Diagnosis is satisfactory showing normal wear for everything, except aluminium that is a little higher than usual, though not alarming. It also said it might be internal oxydation
fastcar
I'm pretty sure the second oil sump is alloy aswell dude
alxns7
Oh yes that's true. I was actually wondering if there's any aluminium part that wears out but I don't really think so so it might well be oxydation
Chris Wilson
The cam journals run direct in the alloy of the head. The oil pump rotor runs directly in the alloy of the pump body. The oil pump relief valve moves ( a small amount) in the alloy of the pump body. I cannot think of any other moving parts running directly in aluminium alloy in a 2JZ. I see badly worn cam bearing bores and badly worn oil pumps... Cams are easier to check, most wear will be in the caps of course unless filthy old oil has been run to the point the oil filter bypass has opened.
