Chris Wilson
Supposedly for reconnaissance on people smuggling activities, but I give it a month at best before it, like the others we have supplied, are used to taxi migrants safely ashore. It seems an ideal vessel to load large numbers of people on to, and not one built to engage smugglers with. So far the British vessels already there have picked up over *SIX THOUSAND* migrants off the sea and ferried them safely ashore. I thought we were there to deter or stop them? We have navy personnel on Border Force vessels, quite why I have no idea. Not a single migrant appears to have been returned to their place of embarkation. If we returned them they'd soon run out of money for the people smugglers, word would spread and far fewer would then chance their arm coming to Europe illegally. I personally think a very small proportion are true refugees and the vast majority are economic migrants out for the main chance in northern Europe. The ones already enjoying a free lunch in Europe, (and bed, breakfast, dinner and housing, too) are now sending for their offspring and family. It's sheer and utter madness, Lemming like behaviour from the weak "leaders" of many European countries, and a legacy to your children that will probably start anarchy, if not a major European war. tintinmt
The report I heard this morning justified the mission pretty much on the grounds that you state i.e. return them to Turkey and they will tell their friends not to bother trying to cross hence putting the smugglers out of business. I'm not confident it's going to work.
Chris Wilson
They are basically trying to appease their voters by using the taxpayers money to bribe Turkey to take back migrants. They could use the money to pay sink landlords over here to house them, but they have the EU Referendum to worry about, and they feel their desire for a stay in vote is under serious threat if they aren't seen to be doing something, however indirectly costly to each and every one of us who pay taxes, to trty and show a reduction in the invading forces size. It's a transparent farce.
j_jza80
It's disturbing how well Orwell was able to anticipate the way that the world would become. The answer is, of course, always giving them more money and more power. Funny how the solution is never less.
Chris Wilson
Maybe the British ship can help this guy with his logistics problem?

Hitbox Junkie
Best solution would be to return them all to the country they came to or turkey ( but would be drastically unfair on turkey) but this all would cost us a pretty penny in tax...... as well as other European country's if they even were to help. America, Canada, Alaska, New Zealand and Australia are looking even more tempting to up sticks and go there. This country's leaders will just drive it into the ground and will become a non christian/western European country and soon there will be a civil war because of it. Cameron is a ......... I hope the ships there are used to taxi the economic migrants back to there country's of origin as we do not want them.
Pete
Did you see Greece with Simon Reeve? http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episodes/p03gk69p The bit where they're all coming over on crowded RIBs from Turkey was just crazy. I was looking at the filming and thinking "where are the ships stopping them?" Greece has a huge army to deal with this...but they're not doing? They know that the migrants don't want to hang around in Greece and they're pretty pee'd off with Germany and the rest of Europe so I reckon they've just decided to sit back and watch them ruin the rest of Europe rather than try to stop them. Those shows are good and go a long way to explain Greek mentality and what a mess they're in.
Chris Wilson
If this deal does go ahead and Turkey's population is granted visa free travel into Europe the potential number who would leave Turkey on a "holiday" or "working visit" and not return would make the current migrant crisis look like a coach load of pensioners invading the pub's toilets on the way back from Bognor. Hopefully they'll have a pop at another Russian jet and Mr. Putin can try out some of his nice tactile nukes. This is *NOT* going to end well.... It's totally unbelievable that the Europeans are even contemplating any sort of "deal" with Turkey, it's like Branners brokering a forum trader deal with Arthur Daly. j_jza80
Thankfully we aren't involved in that Visa free travel agreement with Turkey. But it is utter madness. I wonder how many Turkish passports will be issued in the wake of this? No doubt a small industry will be created producing fake Turkish passports. Pete
It's totally unbelievable that the Europeans are even contemplating any sort of "deal" with Turkey. Indeed. I don't understand that one at all. Last I looked they were miles off hitting targets, but I'm sure someone will have a hidden agenda to get them in.

Last I looked they were miles off hitting targets, but I'm sure someone will have a hidden agenda to get them in. The EU politicians who are responsible for this mess will do whatever they can to brush the migrant crisis under the rug and declare themselves our saviours, they don't care about the long term implications of Turkey joining. In fact, many of them will relish all of the cheap labour. They will happily turn a blind eye to the human rights abuses and the creeping Islamism that Turkey are afflicted with. What is worrying is that Turkey will soon be the single most powerful, and therefore influential EU country.
JasonR24
All the more reason to vote us out... Not that the government will listen anyway...
