Harmonic Balancer Removal

After a bit of advice to remove the harmonic balancer pulley

Bolt is off its just the pulley thats stuck

Ive never had a problem with these before using the correct puller but this one wont budge

Ive tried the proper puller using the 2 threaded holes but somehow it managed to pull one of the bolts out and half the thread came with it so that leaves me stuck

The claw type pullers wont work either and only damage the metal on the edge of the pulley

I have a new pulley so im not fussed what condition the current one ends up in, it just needs to come off

If you have a narrow (1" ish) plate of metal with two holes aligned with the threaded pulley holes you can put one bolt back in as normal and hopefully get a bolt through the damaged thread one and a nut on behind?

If you pop the pulley bolt back in before fitting the plate and then slightly pack out with a couple of washers the front of the plate, then you should be able to get a 22mm spanner onto the bolt and unwind it against the plate?

Drill and tap two new puller bolt holes? Helicoil the damaged one? Always ALWAYS run a tap down them, use cap heads, due to their strength, and ensure they have full thread engagement and are engaged to an equal length so you are pulling squarely. Is it Loctited on? If you suspect so you need proper oxy acetylene gear, a BIG rose bud torch tip on a BIG torch and add a LOT of heat to the hub, very FAST or you will heat up the front seal. Probably best to change it if in any doubt. Heat will render the fitted damper as scrap.

Thanks for the advice guys

I think heat is going to be my only option here now

I drilled the holes out and tapped to 10mm and used 2 heavy duty socket cap bolts

Same problem, using the same method Scooter mentioned above and its pulled one of the bolts out along with the thread from the hole :(

Both were lined evenly etc
