ManwithSupra Posted March 4, 2016 Share Posted March 4, 2016 Its been a while but I want to replace my TIG welder with a new one wanted to know what peoples thoughts are on current descent models Needs to be AC/DC at least 200amps with pulse and pulse frequency adjustment, slope control etc.. Chris Wilson Posted March 4, 2016 Share Posted March 4, 2016 The Danish Migatronic's are fantastic, would need to be used though. I know a good service engineer too. If you have the space something older without the rather fragile semiconductor inverter stuff are ultra reliable. I have an MTE220 which is handy as it can be wired 3 phase or single phase, but it's quite big. You wouldn't be throwing it in the boot of a car, that's for sure! By the time you have a pedal, gas, mask, etc It's going to be nudging 1 £1500-£1800 I think. Only niggle I've found is that in 2T mode, you can't control the upslope; only the downslope is adjustable. Mind you, 99% of the welding I do is with a foot pedal so it hasn't affected me too much.
