hogmaw
I popped in there today, first meet of the season, totally sold out. Perfect weather too. I went to check if my noise levels are ok. The limit is 100db, and I was bang on give or take 1 or 2 db, so thumbs up for the next meet in March
hogmaw
Really enjoyed it getting to know the limits of the car today. The bigger wheels have taken some getting used to, (315 on the rear) and on the track you can really push it to the limit. I also had an instructor in for a while, he pushed me much further than I thought possible! Which was great fun of course, and it's always good to learn and improve. On a sadder note I was right behind a BMW M3 which spun out and flipped over an earth bank; driver was OK and the car suffered minor damage but horrific to watch when right in front of your eyes. bignum
Sounds like you've got the bug now, shame about the m3 its never good to see someone smashing up their pride n joy.
fastcar
Never even knew Abingdon had a track! Is it on an old airfield of something?
bignum
Yes set out around cones iirc. not my cup of tea but great to start off as there`s normally loads of room if you get it wrong.
hogmaw
Yes airfield, not as good as a proper track of course but it's about 1/2 the price; and for me it's only 20 mins from home. Here's a video (not mine) that pretty much shows how the circuit goes:
Sheefa
Definitely interested in this given plenty of run off to practise and play with the car. Let me know when the next one is matey and I'll join you!
Big Supes
I could be up for this as it's not too far away.
Rajinder
I did quite a few track days at Abingdon before moving on to Brands Hatch. The track is more suited to light cars like Caterhams and Elise. I once requested the official to take the kink out on the main back straight, because that is the only place the Supra can stretch it's legs but he said that it would be too dangerous because the left hander at end of the straight is 90 degrees. He did however let me do 2 laps at lunch time without the kink and the Supra just flew. But as said it is half the price of BH.
