rider
Does anyone know what the original tyre size was for the factory 16 inch rims to confirm if 225/50R16 is correct as the out of the factory size?
Richie_k83
I fancy getting a set of 17" OEM ones, put some sticky rubber on them and keep them for trackdays....

Scooter
Does anyone know what the original tyre size was for the factory 16 inch rims to confirm if 225/50R16 is correct as the out of the factory size? that is correct for the fronts (or all 8" wide ones) You can get 16's in 9" wide for the rear and they took, 245/50/16 initially and 245/45/16 later on. The biggest issue with 16's is a lack of decent rubber choice in these wider rears.

Richie_k83
On the subject of brakes, do the Lexus 4 Pot Front Calipers clear OEM 17's?
Scooter
And that no decent brakes will fit behind them to be fair J specs with Chris Wilson race pads saw me round a couple of track days, they aren't in anyway bling but they get worse press than they deserve IMO. They tend to seize up either pistons or sliders/pins and then they aren't efficient at all, everything needs to be working optimally to give them a chance. That and no one tends to want to spend the £300+ on brake pads and £50 on high temp resistant fluid to make them bite better and have good fade resistance. hogmaw
Driving on stock 17s and Good tyres is so smooth compared to 18s IMO and 19s are just silly This is true, handling is much better on stock 17s. I just sold mine a few months back after getting bored of seeing them sat in the garage for YEARS
evinX
NEVER! i had oem sized veilside 17s years ago and hated how the car handled compared to my 18s with wider rears now
j_jza80
On the subject of brakes, do the Lexus 4 Pot Front Calipers clear OEM 17's? I would be 99.9% certain they do. The calipers are smaller in every dimension, and the disc diameter is smaller.
MattP
NEVER! i had oem sized veilside 17s years ago and hated how the car handled compared to my 18s with wider rears now Did they have the same offsets as stock and rim J size
